If you pass the 007 and 042 exams, you will be certified. Just be sure that you take the exams using the same Pearson VUE account. Good luck on your journey!

i have cleared the oracle 9i exam last year and now i am preparing for 10g associate. Then is it necessary to give 10g sql exam before 10g associate or i can directly give the 10g associate exam and also will i get the OCA certificate afterwards.

Utkarsh,
It is not necessary to take another SQL exam. You can move on to the next exam in your path. We will accept the 007 exam results.

So i will get my oca and ocp certificates on 10g?
and i DBA on which language..?
and how to apply for all the certificates i.e oca and ocp?

Posted by utkarsh on May 01, 2014 at 01:40 AM PDT #

Utkarsh,
You will not receive an OCA certificate until you pass the 2nd exam in the path. If you choose Oracle Database 10g Administrator OCA, you'll need to pass exam 042. If you choose Oracle Database 11g Admininstrator OCA, you'll need to pass exam 052. If you choose Oracle Database 12c Administrator OCA, you'll need to pass exam 062.

To move on to OCP, you'll need to pass the OCP exam and complete training. You can find the specific steps on our website at certification.oracle.com.

but when i asked lastly that whether i have to give 10g sql again or not for oca 10g as i have already passed 9i sql then you said no need to give other sql exam you can directly apply and get certificate for 1o g associate...now you are saying that you have to give 10g sql.
will you please clear me all the things...

i have cleared my 9i sql exam last year and now i am preparing for 10g oca so is it necessary to give 10g sql exam before it?
and if not then on which version will i get my oca certificate...?
please make it clear to me

Posted by utkarsh on May 22, 2014 at 12:21 AM PDT #

Utkarsh,
I didn't say that you need a 10g SQL exam. The requirements for 10g DBA OCA are:

1) Pass a SQL exam (1Z0-007, 1Z0-047, 1Z0-051, 1Z0-061)
2) Pass the Admin I exam (1Z0-042)

You must pass 2 exams to obtain the 10g DBA OCA certification. If you have passed one of the exams in number 1 above, you only need to pass exam 042.

Hi Brandye,

I cleared 1z0-007 exam in 2011 and 1z0-144 exam in Dec 2014. But I see that 1z0-007 exam is retired now. So will this be valid for an OCA certification?

If not which exam is suggested for upgrading this to OCA?

Also, I think both the exams are written on different Pearson accounts. If I merge them, will it be considered for OCA?

Please confirm.

Veena S

Veena,
Your 007 exam results are still valid and will still fulfill the requirement for the certification you seek.
