please many people in Nigeria never used oracle 10g database administrator, sql expert and associate certificates to get jobs. This is really unfair to we here in Lagos. Please try to address this issues and help us utilize oracle and make it pronounced for us to be proud to represent you here in Nigeria. Good thought though

You can go to certview.oracle.com and download your eCertificate. If you need an additional printed copy of your certificate from Oracle, you will need to contact Oracle Certification Support http://bit.ly/YpaA7i for assistance.

Posted by guest on September 26, 2014 at 02:44 PM PDT #

The 10g certifications are quite old, and OCA is a more entry-level certification. It is really best if you upgrade to a more current version of certification. You have a couple of options.

1. If you have completed 10g training, I recommend that you take the 10g DBA OCP exam, submit the course details for your 10g training and the upgrade to 12c by passing exam 060.

2. If you have not yet taken training, or if your training is in 11g, you can pass the exam 034 and submit the details of your 11g training to upgrade from 10g OCA to 11g OCP.

3. If you have not yet taken training, or if your training is in 12c, you can pass exam 067 and submit the details of you 12c training to upgrade from 10g OCA to 11g OCP.

Good luck!

Posted by sriram on October 30, 2014 at 03:34 AM PDT #

Sriram,
If you are going for Database Administrator certification, I would recommend going for 11g or 12c. 9i and earlier certs have retired and 10g retires in March 2015.

If you are going for Database Admin, I'd start with Oracle Database 11g or 12c Administrator Certified Associate.

If you are going to Pl/SQL certification, I'd start with Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate.

You can get more information on these and all Oracle Certifications on our website at certification.oracle.com.

Prasad, the paths mentioned in this blog post are valid for you.

Karim, you can pass the exam before completing the course, but your certification will only be granted once you've completed the course as well.

Sheriff, It is not possible to complete 9i DBA OCP now. The exams have retired. If you have 9i DBA OCA, you will need to follow one of the paths outlined above to upgrade your certification.

Hi Brandye Barrington

I have done 10g OCP and want to upgrade to 11g OCP.

Do I have to give exam 1Z1-034 or 11g New Features for Administrators Exam 1Z0-050 will be good enough to get 11g OCP.

Waiting for your reply.

Posted by guest on December 03, 2014 at 03:16 PM PST #

You can upgrade by passing either of those exams. If you choose 034, it will cost less because it is currently in beta. But it will cover much more information. The 050 exam will cost a little more, but will not cover as much material. You can compare the exam topics.

@Anene, I know in some regions the job markets are tough. I did a quick search for Oracle User Groups in Nigeria and came up with some sites that might be worth your research:
https://www.facebook.com/NigeriaOracleUsersGroup
https://www.linkedin.com/pub/info-dept-nigeria-oracle-user-group/1b/b10/a52
http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/customers/customersearch/etisalat-nigeria-1-exadata-ss-2009114.html
http://www.orafaq.com/wiki/User_groups

I hope that some of this information will be helpful.

@Pankaj, If you want to earn the 10g OCA certification, you'll need to pass both exams by March 1, 2015. If you've already passed 007, 051, 047 or 061, you can go ahead and take 052 for the 11g OCA.

I am oracle 8i OCP want to upgrade my certification in 11g. please advice.

Posted by guest on February 05, 2015 at 06:44 AM PST #

In order to upgrade from 8i to 11g, you will need to

1. Upgrade to 9i or 10g with exam 030 or 045. NOTE: these exam will both retire March 1, 2015.
2. Upgrade from 9i or 10g to 11g by passing exam 055 or 050

Alternatively, you could upgrade to 12c DBA OCP from 8i by passing only 1Z0-060.

Hi,

I have gone through the training for the version 10g. Had started the training in June 2014. Now I have given the examination for OCA 11g and cleared the examination successfully in Feb 2015. Had opted for 11g because I had read somewhere that Oracle 10g will retire soon in 2015. Hence, 11g seemed to be a safe bet. Now I want to give OCP for 11g. Is it possible to give an exam in 11g if I submit the course completion certificate of 10g? Is it possible to give an exam for OCP 10g when I am an OCA 11g and later upgrade to OCP 11g?. Please advise

Posted by Karan on February 22, 2015 at 03:26 AM PST #

Karan,
Since your training is in 10g, you will need to complete the 10g OCP path. The 11g OCA will fulfill the OCA pre-req for the 10g OCP certification.

Time is running out!
1. Pass the 10g OCP exam 1Z0-043 by March 1, 2015.
2. Submit the 10g course details throught he 'Course Submission Form' at www.pearsonvue.com/oracle by September 1, 2015.

Then you can upgrade to 11g DBA OCP by passing exam 1Z0-050.

So most likely i am gonna drop out of this re-certification thoughts and lose my old certification too. Not something i planned to handle today.

Hello there!

I've completed last year OCP 10g. Is there any exam for 12c OCP that I can take directly, instead of taking 11g? Second question, Also is there any mandatory oracle training need if there one for 12c without taking the 11g.

Posted by guest on February 27, 2015 at 09:14 AM PST #

I had under gone training program for Oracle 10g workshop 2.
I have cleared the exam of 10g OCA (Workshop 1) in Sep 2008.
Now what is best possible way to upgrade to 11g OCP or 12C OCP.
Do i have to once again undergo training path or just directly appear for the exam of 11g or 12c to complete my OCP track.

Posted by guest on February 28, 2015 at 06:18 AM PST #

Essse, if you are a 10g DBA OCA, you can upgrade to 12c DBA OCP by taking a relevant 12c course (the New Features course would be a good one) and passing exam 1Z0-067.

@guest 1 on Feb 27, you could certainly register through Oracle University if testing is available at OU sites in your country. OU does not offer testing in all countries.

@guest 2 on Feb 27, If you hold the 10g DBA OCP certification, no additional training is required. You can upgrade to 12c DBA OCP by passing exam 1Z0-060.

@guest on Feb 28, in order to upgrade from 10g DBA OCA to 11g or 12c DBA OCP, you will need to complete 11g or 12c training. The 10g training will not fulfill the training requirement. Your options are:
- complete 11g or 12c training
- pass exam 1Z0-034
- earn 11g DBA OCP
or
- complete 12c training
- pass exam 1Z0-0067
- earn 12c DBA OCP

In order to move from OCA to OCP as a Database Administrator, you will have to complete training. It is no longer possible to earn the 10g DBA OCP certification. You'll need to begin preparing for the 1Z0-067 exam if you want to upgrade to 12c DBA OCP.

Posted by Saad khan on March 14, 2015 at 03:24 PM PDT #

Hi Saad,
Did you earn the 10g DBA OCA certification in Sept 2014, or did you only pass the 1Z0-042 exam? There were 2 exams required to earn the 10g DBA OCA certification - a SQL exam (1Z0-007, 1Z0-047, 1Z0-051, or 1Z0-061) and the 1Z0-052 exam.

If you earned the 10g DBA OCA certification by passing both exams, you can upgrade to 11g DBA OCP by passing exam 1Z0-034 and completing relevant 11g training. The 10g training will not fulfill the training requirement for 11g DBA OCP.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

I'm an engineering pass out. Working in a bpo. I want to switch my career to Software /IT

I have not done any course on Pl/Sql.

However, I have some materials of study oracle 9i

Could you suggest me, if I can go ahead and study to prepare for interview.

Or is it necessary to do a certification on 11g or 12c?

If I want to go for training, which one do you suggest?

Posted by guest on March 22, 2015 at 09:23 PM PDT #

I think that you need to decide your career path. If you wish to pursue a career path that would require the skills covered by the PL/SQL certification, then I think it would be beneficial for you to prepare for the certification exams.

Many people find that certification helps them in the job search and interview process. The best thing for you to do as you make your decision whether or not to pursue certification is to look at job requirements for the jobs you're interested in.

Pratyaksh, Your training history will not show up in CertView. In order to upgrade from 10g OCA to 11g or 12c OCP, you'll need to complete 11g training or 12c training. 10g training will not fufill the training requirement for those certifications.

- For 11g OCP, you can take either 11g or 12c training.
- For 12c OCP, you will need 12c training.

Nikiru, If you have 10g OCA, you can upgrade to 11g or 12c OCP by following one of the paths above in the blog post. I would suggest that you contact OU http://bit.ly/1qjGWIM for assistance with getting registered for the training.

I have the OCA 10g, and of course I have the training for the OCP. However I have notified that I must upgrade mi certification.
Before of that I have enrolled in an online course for oracle 11g training with seek learning provider, but looking the path for upgrade in this site, told me that I have to enrol in one of the approved courses of the oracle learning centre for the upgrading path.

I was thinking that I only need to take an exam for the upgrade, but the website said that is compulsory to take one of the approved courses? please can you explain or suggest me what I can do.

Thanks

Rosario

Posted by guest on May 18, 2015 at 01:09 PM PDT #

Aseem,
Without knowing which OCA and OCP exams you have taken, I would say that if your exams were 10g, you could take an 11g course that is approved to fulfill the requirement and earn the 10g version of certification, then upgrade to 11g with the 050 exam. However, your deadline for completing and submitting that course is September 1, 2015. After that date, we will no longer grant any 10g certifications.

If your OCA and OCP exams are 9i, that deadline has passed and you will not be able to earn the 9i certification. However, if you have 9i OCA, you can upgrade to 11g OCP by passing exam 1Z0-034 and completing 11g training.

You are eligible to upgrade your 10g DBA OCA certification to 11g DBA OCP by completing 11g training and passing the exam 1Z0-034.

Unfortunately, your 10g training will not fulfill the trainging requirement for 11g DBA OCP. You will need to take 11g training.

Regards,
Brandye Barrington
