The classroom package does not get 20% off (Drop to $3652 from $3844). Is it a mistake or classroom package just don't get that discount?

You're right, Ying. It looks like this classroom training offers a 5% discount. Sorry for the confusion.

I earned an Oracle8i DBA OCP. I am not sure what is about the upgrade certificate. Is it the same one like an Oracle12c DBA OCP ?

How is about the self-study package. Does this package contain as same study/practice stuffs as the others, such as the in-class and the live virtual course ?

Posted by guest on July 22, 2014 at 10:45 PM PDT #

I'm not 100% sure what your first question is, so if I'm not answering your question, please let me know. If you hold an 8i DBA OCP, you'll need to upgrade to 12c. You can do so by passing the 060 exam.

If you're referring to the value packages above, those packages contain training, exam voucher and practice exam.

Yes, Ana. You will only need to pass the 060 exam, as mentioned in the post above.

I only had OCA 9i certification, can I take one of this exam "Upgrade to Oracle Database 12c" (1Z0-060) to upgrade my certification to OCP 12c directly?

Posted by Alex on October 30, 2014 at 12:04 AM PDT #

Hi Alex,
No, you will not be able to upgrade using this exam. However, there is a path for you from 9i DBA OCA to 12c DBA OCP. You will take exam 1Z0-067 (currently in beta) and complete one relevant 12c training class. You can find more details on our website http://bit.ly/1tmPDEG.

I'm holding an Oracle 9i DBA OCP. Would I able to earn 12c OCP by clearing "1Z0-060" "Upgrade to Oracle Database 12c"?

Second question, My colleague is holding 11g OCP, he can also earn 12c OCP by clearing the same exam (1Z0-060)?

You may want to consider our OCA to OCP upgrade paths. You can find more information on our website here http://bit.ly/1vx9nJl.

Yes, you can both upgrade to 12c using the same exam.

I am an 8i certified (OCP) dba. Unfortunately i lost my original certificate somewhere, still i have the copy of that certificate with me. Is it required to furnish the original at the pometric center for this certification?

Posted by guest on November 26, 2014 at 02:20 AM PST #

Hi Gisha,
We are now delivering exams through Pearson VUE. You do not need your certificate, but you will need your Oracle Testing ID (Prometric ID). If you do not have that, you can contact Oracle Certification Support for assistance http://bit.ly/YpaA7i.

You are correct - passing exam 060 will upgrade your 10g DBA OCP to 12c DBA OCP. Additional training is not required.

Hi Brandy.
Can you share the number of questions from the beta exam 1Z1-067? On the exam page this information isn't very specific (150-220?).
Regarding 1Z0-062, on exam page stated that consist of 95 questions, but some claim that it consist of 2 parts, one of 20 questions, and one 75 questions (following 1Z0-060 model). Can you please clear this out ?

Posted by aurelian on December 22, 2014 at 06:16 AM PST #

For the 067 beta exam, there are 175 questions.

For the 062 exam, you are correct - it's in 2 parts, and the breakdown is as you mention above. You must pass both parts in order to pass the exam.

We have 11g OCP and I work on a Platinium Oracle partner. My company offers me to take upgrade certificacion exam to 12c.

Seems to exists two path, OCP or OPM Implementation Specialist.

What is the key differences and your opinion on the best certification to take (both are usable to obtain the Oracle 12c Enablement from company point of view if not i'm wrong).

Oracle Database 12c Administrator Certified Professional (via 1Z0-060 exam)

Oracle 12c Implementation Specialist ( via Oracle Database 12c Essentials Exam 1Z0-497)

Thanks for your help.

i'm holding OCA 11g i would like to upgrade it to 12c OCA is there a path for this ?

Posted by Tony on January 23, 2015 at 12:29 PM PST #

Hi Tony,
There is not an offical OCA upgrade path, but you could move to 12c DBA OCA by passing only the 062 exam. You would have had to take a SQL exam to qualify for the 11g DBA OCA, so you would not need to re-take a SQL exam for the 12c OCA certification.

If your ultimate goal is to get to 12c DBA OCP, you may want to consider "skipping" 12c OCA and moving straight to 12c DBA OCP by completing relevant training and passing exam 1Z0-067 http://bit.ly/1BfgN1x. This exam is currently in post beta review and should be released in production in a few weeks. I believe that you can currently pre-register for the exam.

I took the test, passed in part 1 of 12c new features with good score and failed in 2nd part of Key DBA skill. I disappointed with testing method. I got certification since 7.3 to 11g and RAC Expert. Key DBA skill part doesn't appears to realistic testing real time DBA experience rather it tests reading skill and unusual configuration. I am supporting Oracle databases in different OS for twenty years, solving most of the problems ourselves and reaching to Oracle support only for code or bug related issues.

My test feedback

Testing server was too slow, it didn't respond timely. Wasted sizable time
Fees is expensive
Exam has two sections. No option or indication to identify or select second section, wasted most of the time in first section and failed the test
Time is not adequate.
It appears, Test is for testing reading skill rather technical skill.

Hi Ashok,
Thanks for your feedback. I will pass this on to our exam developers.

If there was an issue with the testing server, did you notify Pearson VUE and create an incident report?

Posted by Raj on February 19, 2015 at 03:18 AM PST #

If you have earned the Oracle Forms Developer Certified Professional certification, you likely have passed at least one of the exams in the 11g DBA OCP path.

In order to earn the 11g DBA OCP certification, you will first need to earn 11g DBa OCA http://bit.ly/1jgwflz. There are 2 exams in this path - a SQL exam and exam 1Z0-052. If you passed one of the following exams to earn your Forms Developer certification, then you'll only need to pass exam 052:

001, 007, 047, 051, 061.

After earning 11g DBA OCA, you'll need to complete the steps to move to 11g DBA OCP - http://bit.ly/1t1VLVH
- Complete a relevant training course
- Pass exam 1Z0-053
- Submit the course details for verification.

Experiencing the same as other people, passed the first part of the exam which covered 12c new features, but failed the second part on Key Skills - I found the DBA Skills questions asked were completely irrelevant to the job! This is a complete joke that an upgrade exam contain these kind of questions, and if it must, let's try not to put trick questions or things that are irrelevant to the role of a DBA.
I get the feeling now that certification is just another way for Oracle to make money and being OCP (I have 8i, 9i, 10g and 11g OCP already and 15 years of experience as a DBA) is meaningless, mainly because the questions asked on the exam are completely irrelevant to the practical requirements of being a DBA.

Posted by guest on March 10, 2015 at 08:08 AM PDT #

I'm sorry that you had this experience with this exam. These exams are actually developed by subject matter experts and they go through a rigorous beta process to test the validity of the items. I can assure you that there are no exam items that are intentionally created to be 'trick' questions. We take exam development and validity very seriously and would love to hear your feedback.

If you have feedback on specific topics or items, please send your feedback to our Oracle Certification Support team so that they can pass it along to the exam developers http://bit.ly/YpaA7i.

Unfortuntately, Oracle does not provide job assistance. Make as many connections as possible on LinkedIn. You can also get some job expereince by doing contract work. You can get more information at Elance.com or http://bit.ly/LjiDHp.

You can also connect with your peers on the Oracle Certification Forum http://bit.ly/Lt5vhm.

I want to be 12c OCP DBA
I am a 9i-OCP in developer track (took 7 few years back)
My question is
I had passed IZO 007 (SQL paper)as part of the OCP developer track which was also one basic exam for 9i DBA track at that time.I could not complete other exams for 9i DBA that time.
Now that I want to be 12c OCP, does IZO007 count towards one exam for 12c OCP DBA?What are the other exams I need to take to achieve 12cDBA?

Posted by Veena on April 21, 2015 at 04:30 AM PDT #

You can see the certification path outlined on our website http://bit.ly/1jgwLjC. You will need to start with the OCA path and then move on to OCP.

You will only need to take one exam - 1Z0-062 for OCA since you've already passed 007.

Hi ,

I've passed 10g OCA and OCP exams but didn't do the hands on OCP training.

Can I take this exam to upgrade to 12c OCP?

Many thanks

Posted by Yuriy on May 09, 2015 at 03:11 AM PDT #

You could take one of the 12c courses that fulfills the training requirement for 12c DBA OCP certification and submit it for your 10g certification. You will need to complete the course and submit the course form before September 1, 2015.

Otherwise, you could upgrade your 10g OCA certification to 12c by completing 12c training and passing exam 1Z0-067.

I hold 10g OCP. I am interested in upgrading to 12c by appearing for 1Z0-060 exam. I was told there is cut off date of 1 March,2015 or 1 April 2015 to write 1Z0-060 exam.

What happens if I appear/pass 1Z0-060 exam after this cut off date? I mean, still can I get upgraded to 12c OCP by just writing one exam and all my previous credentials are honored? I am not sure how many exams you have to write if you start fresh for 12c OCP. I am NOT interested in appearing for all those exams, if I have to.

If you miss the upgrade deadline of March 1, 2016, your 10g certification will become inactive and you will no longer have access to the benefits of certification. However, you can reactivate your certification and regain access to certification benefits by passing exam 1Z0-060 and upgrading to 12c. You will not have to pass additional exams.
