FAQ: Why Can't I Authenticate My CertView Account?

We sometimes receive questions from some of you who have trouble authenticating your CertView accounts. You have entered what you believe to be the correct information and after 3 failed attempts, you are "locked out" of your account. Are you sure you are entering the correct information?

Some of the most common reasons we see for failed authentication are:
  • You entered the exam number instead of your personal Oracle Testing ID (this is the most common reason for authentication failure). Exam number = 1Z0-###; Oracle Testing ID is similar to OC#######. The Oracle Testing ID is the number that you need to enter.
  • You entered the Oracle Testing ID with spaces (this is another common reason for authentication failure). There are no spaces in the Oracle Testing ID - OC#######.
  • You entered an email address or name that is different from the name and email address in your Pearson VUE profile. Sign in to your Pearson VUE web account to obtain the correct information.
  • You have not yet created a Pearson VUE web account. Go to the Pearson VUE website to create your web account.
  • You created or updated your Pearson VUE web account fewer than 60 minutes ago. Allow one hour after you create or update your Pearson VUE web account to authenticate your CertView account.
If you have not yet authenticated your CertView account, watch this video to ensure you avoid the common mistakes.

Comments:

Hello,
how can we get out of such a situation?
I have 3 failed attempts, and I can't see any of the reasons you mentioned to be the reason for authentication failure.

Can I somehow unlock my account?

Once you you had 3 failed authentication attempts, the Oracle Certification Support team will manually authenticate your account and contact you to confirm when authentication is complete.

I have a test appointment tomorrow, just found that I can't authenticate against certview and locked out, but it says it may take around 5 days for oracle to verify, does this going to avoid me from taking test tomorrow or only it delays my result.

I am guessing that you probably have already received a resolution to your issue?

Hi,

I took 3 certification exams, all of 9i certification path. 1Z0-007, 1Z0-031, 1Z0-032. By the time I wanted to take the last 1Z0-033 (performance) it was expired. So I just took now the 11G 1Z0-053 which I read should replace the one expired.
The point is, I'm still see my certification as OCA only, not OCP.
What should I do next?

Posted by Marlon Silva on July 24, 2014 at 11:08 AM PDT #

Marlon,
Unfortunately, the 053 exam that you took does not help your situation. I believe you have the 9i DBA OCA certification? The 053 exam is hte 11g DBA OCP exam, so it won't grant 9i DBA OCP. And in order to obtain the 11g DBA OCP by passing exam 053, your OCA certification would have had to be 11g DBA OCA.

There is a path that you can follow. See this blog post http://bit.ly/1rjfmvs for the path that you can follow.

I merged my testing IDs. Pearson VUE showing the updated correct ID. But CertView is still showing old testing ID. What should I do? And how much time is required to do all those updates from Oracle?

Posted by guest on November 18, 2014 at 09:12 AM PST #

Usually within 48 hours everything is updated in CertView. Please check again and if you still have problems, please contact Oracle Certification Support http://bit.ly/YpaA7i.

You have forgotten usage of back button for trying to correct mistakes as a reason for getting three fail attempts...

That is a good point. I'm not sure that I knew that was an issue. Thanks for posting.

I have a test appointment tomorrow, 1Z0-803 - Java SE 7 Programmer I - English (ENU), and my certview account is locked. Is the access to this account mandatory to take the exam? If not, how do I check the result with the account locked?

Hi Jorge,
Sorry for not getting back with you sooner on this. The Oracle Certification Support team has probably already gotten back with you by now. I hope you did well on your exam. Please let me know if you need further assistance on this.

Nura,
I'm not sure what you mean that you took SQL OCP. Did you take exam 043 before you took 042? Unfortunately, if that is the case, your only option would be to start your certification path over with 11g or 12c.

Hi,

I have completed 1z0-851 OCJP certification exam.I got mail to check result. But after giving the Testing id and mail id it was showing details are not correct. After 3 attempt it is locked.I am not able to see my result.

Could you please help me on this.

I posted something earlier but it is not showing up. I changed my email Id at oracle before the exam on 3/14. I tried to login at certview with my new email but got locked out. Before the 3rd attempt I changed my email at pearson vue to the new email and tried again but still failed. I got email from oracle saying I should be able to login using my old email but that failed and tried with my new email id but got locked out again. I want to check my score but I am unable to. Please help!

Posted by guest on March 16, 2015 at 08:03 AM PDT #

When changing email addresses, there is some lag time between the information being saved on the Pearson VUE site and being uploaded to the CertView site. It is likely that the issue was caused by the email address changes not getting picked up in real time by CertView.

However, the support team typically fixes these issues and takes care of manual authentication within 24 hours on business days. I believe that you have probably already heard back from them and this issue is sorted out.

If not, let me know and I can follow up with the team, but I will need your name as it is provided in your Pearson VUE profile (Please do not provide any other personal info like Oracle Testing ID).

Brandye Barrington

Brandye,

Thanks for responding. The issue is still not sorted out.

I got an email from Oracle this morning saying
"...Please note you have already authenticated your CertView account with SSO ID : <old email> and hence you are unable to authenticate with the new SSO ID : <new email>. We request you to login to your CertView account with below SSO ID to view your Certification details.
Single Sign-on : <old email>"

My account got unlocked and I tried with my old email and it still didn't work then tried with new email again and that didn't work. I got locked out again after 3rd time. Still waiting to find out my score...

I don't know what is going on. None of my posts are appearing here. Why can this happen?

Posted by guest on March 17, 2015 at 06:46 AM PDT #

I changed my email back to my old email in both oracle and pearson vue and now able to see my results.

Rajesh,
All blog comments must be moderated before being approved to be posted. We do this to avoid a lot of spam on this blog. Unfortunately, moderation is not immediate. For this reason, we urge candidates to work with the Oracle Certification Support team for specific issues that require a faster response or that require specific account help.

It looks like your issue is resolved now.

If you wish to change your email address, you will need to change it at Pearson VUE and change it in your Oracle.com account. Then you'll need to contact Oracle Certification Support and let them know you've changed your email address. There is a step that they will need to take to get the updates made in CertView. You will need to reauthenticate your CertView account after that.

Brandye Barrington

Hi,

I already changed my email address in Pearson VUE and in the Certview. Then I tried to access again my Certview account and is asking again for my Oracle Testing ID and email address. I provided the updated email address and I got 3 failed attempts. How can I remediate this? Thank you

Posted by Cicciolina Miranda on March 20, 2015 at 09:14 PM PDT #

Cicciolina,
You will need to contact Oracle Certification Support http://bit.ly/YpaA7i for assistance with this issue. After updating your email address, they will need to apply the new information in CertView and you will need to re-authenticate your account.
