Hi guys,
I am Annie, a master degree(MCA) graduate with 1 year experience in data warehousing domain. I am pretty proficient in oracle but not exposed to web logic and j2ee deployment etc.. specified above. I am searching for a job since 5 months, I wish to do this certification purely for making myself more employable. Do you think clearing this certification will fetch me a job.?

Posted by guest on March 10, 2012 at 08:56 AM PST #

Hi Annie,
It is difficult to say whether getting the certification will directly get you a job - especially if you are looking for entry-level jobs. They are a little harder to come by. However, studies have shown that certification does increase your marketability. And also help you get command higher pay when you do get a job. We wish you luck in your certification path and your job search!

I also encourage your peers to provide their thoughts as well - they are the ones in the market, so they would have a better feel for this.

pls suggest me a good institute to do my oracle OCA course in chennai.

Posted by guest on July 10, 2012 at 04:17 AM PDT #

@Archana,
You could go for 9i DBA, 10g DBA and/or SQL Expert. You should research the available job market in your area to determine which certification would be best for you as far as jobs are concerned. You can find certification and exam details on our website at certification.oracle.com.

@Guests,
Certifications can help give you an edge over other candidates, but I cannot tell you if this certification will help get you a job. The biggest thing is to look at the job market in your area. The other challenge that you have is not having any experience. Get a copy of the Oracle Database and practice, practice, practice.

Regarding training centers, you can find centers in your area on our website at http://bit.ly/Neugik.

Hello everyone

I am Abilash from Tamil Nadu .I have completed the following two exams for OCA Certification( Database Track)

1.1Z0-051-ENU-ONLINE: Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I (common for both Database and Developer Track )
2. 1Z0-052-ENU: Oracle Database 11g: Administration I

Now i want to do OCP Certification exam in Developer Track

3.1Z0-141-ENU :Oracle Forms Developer: Build Internet Applications
(or)
4.1Z0-146 Oracle Database 11g Advanced PL/SQL

Can i able to take this 3rd (or) 4th exam for OCP certification which is in developer track ?

Why i am Asking means for OCA certification i have taken the exam in database track. can i able to shift from database to developer track for OCP Certification?

Posted by Abilash kumar on September 17, 2012 at 07:49 AM PDT #

Abilash,
You can switch to Developer track, but there is one additional exam that you'll need to take.

You will need to take either 1Z0-147 Program with PL/SQL or 1Z0-144 Oracle Database 11g: Program with Pl/SQL to obtain the Oracle PL/SQL Developer OCA certification. This is a pre-requisite to the Oracle Advanced PL/SQL Developer Certified Professional Certification.

After passing 1Z0-147 or 1Z0-144, you will have the PL/SQL OCA certification and then if you take 1Z0-141, you will obtain Oracle Forms Developer Certified Professional. If you pass 1Z0-146, you will obtain Oracle Advanced PL/SQL Developer Certified Professional.

You can see the paths on our website here http://bit.ly/NlTqtO.

Kindly, suggest me whether i can take OCA Oracle Database 11g Administration test directly or do i need to do some other exam ,like SQL Expert, before this. Also, Please suggest me some links where i can start preparing for this exams.

Thanks,

Posted by guest on November 06, 2012 at 07:44 AM PST #

Hi Benny,
In order to obtain the 11g DBA OCA certification, you will need to pass a SQL exam and also the Admin I exam. These can be taken in any order, but you will receive the certification only after you have passed both exams.

You can find information on these exams on our website at certification.oracle.com. Click on the View All Certifications link and you can find the link to the 11g OCA certification requirements. From there, you will be able to link directly to the exam details pages.

i had completed my oca 10g developer track certification
i like to do ocp but i am confused coz when i go through with sql star website there ocp certification for developer track syllabus is forms and reports and java too . so help me regarding this

Posted by aditi on February 03, 2013 at 05:06 AM PST #

Kavana,
This is really a very loaded question. It depends on so many factors. If you choose to pursue 10g or 11g certification, you would need to take a 10g or 11g class. Is that possible for you to do? It is always recommended that you hold the latest version of certification, but since you've taken a 9i class, your best option may be to complete the 9i OCA and OCP paths and than take an additional exam to upgrade from 9i DBA OCP to 11g DBA OCP. An additional exam is probably more financially doable than an additional training class.

Aditi,
I am not sure what is on the SQL Star website, but you can find the certification paths on our website here http://bit.ly/NlTqtO. This will give you a good idea of what comes next.

You do not need to complete training before taking any exam (tho it is recommended). For the 10g DBA OCA certification, training is not required. The 047 and 042 exams are sufficient. If you choose to move on to the OCP level of certification, you will be required to complete training to obtain the OCP certification.

Good luck on your certification path and congratulations on the 047 exam!

Sir, if i did the 10g OCA and then i want to do the 11g OCP in oracle database, is it possible to do?

Posted by suchit haraane on May 30, 2013 at 10:48 PM PDT #

Hi Suchit,
You will need to either complete the 10g OCP and then upgrade to 11g OCP, or you will need to go on to complete the 11g OCA and then 11g OCP.

Some considerations:
- If you passed a SQL exam (007, 047 or 051) to obtain the 10g OCA certification, you will only need to pass one exam - 052 - to obtain the 11g OCA certification.
- If you completed 10g training already, you may want to consider going for the 10g OCP and then upgrading because 10g training is not accepted to fulfill the 11g OCP training requirement.

Sakina,
If you wish to pursue this WLS 11g certification, you can find the recommended training course on the exam page linked above.

Have you visited our website at certification.oracle.com? This may give you a more complete picture.

Hi Mohanraj,
All I can tell you is to study the exam topics carefully. You could also see if Oracle Press http://bit.ly/URFuwt has a relevant book.

Hi,
I have done OCA in PlSQL 9i Developer track.
where i can find the certification path details required to switch from 9i developer to 11g dba.
Pls help.

Gourab

Gourab,
You can find the certification requirements for 11g DBA on our website here https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=653&get_params=p_id:52. You'll start with OCA and move then to OCP. Since you have the 9i Developer certifiation, I believe that you took exam 007 or 001. If you have taken one of those exams already, you can skip step 1 in the Associate (OCA) path.
