How can i join the Oracle Certification Course.

Gayatri,
I'm not sure what you mean by joining the certification course. If you want to become certified, you can find information on our website at certification.oracle.com. For some certifications there is a required course. You would register for the course that you choose through the Oracle University website at oracle.com/education. There will be links to the appropriate courses from the exam pages.

Hello Brandye-

I am working wirh CSC company, got 1 year exp.. Now I want to switch from Java to Oracle, Can you please suggest me whether i should go for Technical or Functional certification. If any please suggest me what kind of books to refer and do the certification.

One more Qn - What should i choose in Oracle - like DBA or Apps or etc... Please help me

Thanks in advance...

Posted by Gopi Shiva Krishna on October 03, 2011 at 04:32 PM PDT #

Hi Gopi,
Whether you go for technical or functional it entirely dependent on your current skills and goals. You'll need to evaluate your current skills and knowledge level compared to the expectations of each job role. It will also depend largely on which roll is in more demand in your region. You can get a better idea of what is covered in each certification and compare the two by visiting out website at certification.oracle.com and visiting viewing the requirements for each certification. You should also have a look at the exam topics covered by each exam. One other site that may be helpful is our Certification Forum http://bit.ly/oDYL8C. You can have a look at what others have said about this choice.

Gopi,
You can find the information you need about this exam on our website at certification.oracle.com. I'm not sure what you mean by a 'pdf for this certification.'

Please be aware that using dumps is considered cheating. If we are able to determine that a candidate has used dumps to prepare for their certification exam, we will revoke their exam scores and ban them from testing. Please do not use dumps or perpetuate the practice of using dumps.

You can have a look at our Certification Forum to find recommendations for books that others have used to help prepare for this exam http://bit.ly/oDYL8C.

sir i had given sql exam for oracle certification .vhich was unproctored (by mistake)aand nw i want to give the second exam i.e admin1 (proctored) ....my question is...... do i get the certificate of OCA after this exam or nt,though i gave sql unproctored?????

Posted by robin dhull on December 14, 2011 at 06:17 PM PST #

Robin,
If the SQL exam was available as a non-proctored exam, then it will count toward your certification. If you passed your non-proctored SQL exam, you can take the Admin 1 exam and you will receive your certification if you pass.

My question is regarding training. I would like to know if training at Oracle is mandatory or can i self-study using other resources.

This would help me in calculating the cost for my certification

Dear Brandye,

Myself Vishal currently as system administrator cum DBA.
I am using 10g database for our institution from last 3 years, i do not have any technical certification in respect of ORACLE but i am interested in DBA track.
i have inquired with many institutions in respect of the same, but no one told me that from where i can start.

Weather it is possible to get certification without any training, if not then what should i do first.

Thanks in advance.

Vishal.

Posted by guest on July 05, 2012 at 11:33 PM PDT #

@Guest on June 28, the training requirement depends on the certification path you've chosen. You should have a look at the track page for your chosen certification on our website certification.oracle.com and this will tell you if training is required or not. The track page is the page that lists the requirements in a vertical format, ending with the certification title at the bottom.

Hi Vishal,
Your first step will be to pass the OCA exams and obtain the OCA certification. Training is not required for OCA. When you move on to the OCP certification, you'll need to complete training. You can get more details on our website http://bit.ly/M0ORZX.

Hi Pullarao,
Your certification is still a valid prerequisite for the Java SE 7 Programmer upgrade path. You can upgrade to the current version of certification by passing the 805 upgrade exam.

Posted by Gopi on May 28, 2013 at 07:43 AM PDT #

Hi Gopi,
The exam that you mention is an upgrade exam. It is only applicable to candidates who already hold an earlier Java Programmer certification, to upgrade their credential to the latest version. If you are new to Java certification, you should start with 803 for the OCA certification and then 804 for the OCP certification.

I am working in MNC company for Application Support project. In backend, we are using Oracle 10g. My most of the work is on frontend, but sometimes, I have to check at backend and need to use sql queries. Also I need to find out the bug and error in the PL/SQL code. So I am thinking to do oracle certification.I have basic knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL. So can you suggest me for which oracle certfication should I go..?? Fundamental or Expert..

Kedar

Posted by Kedar on August 02, 2014 at 11:44 PM PDT #

Kedar,
If you are going for the Database OCP certification, you'll need to first complete the Database OCA certification. You'll need to determine if you wish to pursue the 10g, 11g, or 12c version. I suggest that you search thru the Oracle Certification Forum http://bit.ly/Lt5vhm for comments on this and once you've gathered a little more info, you can ask for more advice from your peers on the forum.

Ayush,
Were you working as an Oracle DBA at TCS? Are you looking for a job at Oracle, or just a job administering Oracle Databases? Your question is unclear. You may actually get a better answer to your question if you 1)ask it on our Oracle Certification Forum and 2) be more specific.
