FAQ: Sun Candidates & Oracle Testing IDs

0408B.jpg

There seems to be a bit of confusion around some Oracle terminology. Many Sun candidates are asking what an "Oracle Testing ID" is.

The Oracle Testing ID is your unique identifier, or account number for the Oracle Certification Program. Previously, at Sun, this was referred to as your 'Prometric ID.' This identifier is very important to ensure that all of your exams and all certifications are reported under one account. If you end up with more than one Oracle Testing ID (or Prometric ID), you may take exams under two records. If you are following a multiple exam path and you have taken your exams under different accounts or records, our systems have no way of recognizing that these two exams were actually taken by the same person, so a certification will not be granted until the IDs have been merged.

Ensure that you take all of your exams under one Oracle Testing ID (Prometric ID). If you are unsure of what your Prometric ID is, you can log in to your account at www.prometric.com/oracle and go to 'Update Personal Information' to find your Prometric ID, which will be referred to from here forward as Oracle Testing ID. If you have taken your exams with Pearson VUE, you can find your Oracle Testing ID by logging in to your account at www.pearsonvue.com/oracle. You will see your Oracle Testing ID at the top of the page.

November 16, 2010 ED. NOTE: "Oracle Testing ID" is your Prometric ID, not your SUN ID.

Comments:

I want to plan a MySQL Certification, but I have to do that on Prometric. But I already have an Oracle ID. What can I do ?

You will receive a new ID when you create your account at Prometric. You will not be able to use your Pearson VUE ID for exams at Prometric. Regards, Brandye Barrington

Hi, I cleared SCJP exam in 2009 using my prometric id. A couple of days back I completed 1Z0-451 SOA Certification using a PearsonVue Id. I wasn't aware that I need to provide the prometric id instead of generating a new pearsonvue id. What should I do now to merge these two to a single account? I am asking this now because I am planning to take the Sun WebServices exam which is in the certification path of SCJP. So I want the track to be maintained properly. Thanks, Vignesh

Posted by Vignesh on December 12, 2010 at 08:52 PM PST #

Vignesh, Actually since the legacy Sun exams (Java, Oracle Solaris, MySQL, NetBeans, OpenOffice.org) are maintained at Prometric and the rest of Oracle's certification exams are maintained at Pearson VUE, you will have two separate IDs - one for Prometric and one for Pearson VUE. Just be sure that you take any subsequent exams at Prometric, under your Prometric ID and take any subsequent exams at Pearson VUE under your Oracle Testing ID. Regards, Brandye Barrington

Hi I cleared my 1Z0-001 long ago. Now I planning to take in 1Z0-152 for OCA. I also want to count 1Z0-001 toward my current OCA effort. But I have old Promateric ID. How it can be done? I do not want to retake SQL fundamentals (1z0-001 or 007 or 047 or 051) again. Qazi

Posted by Qazi on December 22, 2010 at 09:43 PM PST #

Qazi, When you create your Pearson VUE web account at www.pearsonvue.com/oracle, you will need to enter your Prometric ID so that all exam records will be under one account. If you need assistance with this process, please contact our customer support team at ocpexam_ww@oracle.com. Regards, Brandye Barrington

I took exam in prometric and i got the Prometric ID after registering in it. I created one account in oracle to get the logo, it asked for Oracle ID, i entered the Prometric ID what ever i got.I need to see my status online and i need the logo for my certification(Java Enterprise Edition 5 Business Component Developer Certified Professional Exam). Please guide me. Thanks In Advance, Bennet Xavier X.

Posted by Bennet on May 23, 2011 at 07:57 PM PDT #

Bennet, If you obtained a certification based on an exam that you passed at Prometric, you will be able to view your certification history and download logos at certmanager.net/sun until May 31, 2001. If you need assistance with access, please contact suncert_ww@oracle.com. I suggest that you download your logo(s) from this site. From June 1 until about late June to early July, candidates will not have access to their Java, Solaris, MySQL and NetBeans logos. During that time, all the certification history will be loaded into Oracle's Certification Database. We will make an announcement on this blog when certification history and logos are available in Oracle Certification's self-service database - CertView. Regards, Brandye Barrington

I passed the 1Z0-007 exam in the year 2008 and could not take up the 1Z0-147 exam later. I have the certificate for the completion of 1Z0-007 exam but I lost my prometric testing ID. Now is it possible to complete my OCA certification by taking up the 1Z0-147 exam alone without taking up the 1Z0-007 exam. What can I do to get my exam path. Please advise.

Your 007 exam result is still valid. You should contact Oracle Certifiation Support http://bit.ly/f39Dny for assistance with your Prometric ID. You should also view your exam history in your record at certview.oracle.com. You will need your Prometric ID as well as some other information to authorize this account. Please ask the support team to assist with all the info you'll need to authorize and access your CertView account.

Yes, you will need to merge your IDs. You can submit this request at pearsonvue.com/oracle/idmerge. This should take care of your issue and your certifications and logos should show up in CertView after the IDs are merged.

Hi,

I passed my SCJP 1.4 exam in 2006. I have lost my Prometric Testing Id and would like to upgrade my certification to OCPJP6.0 now. How do i get my prometric testing ID? I've created profile with Pearson VUE but it did not come up with any matching ID for my profile and the new id has been created.
I am confused now. could you please help me in this regard?

Thanks for your help

You will need to contact Oracle Certification Support http://bit.ly/f39Dny for assistance with your Prometric ID. Since you did not enter this ID when you created your Pearson VUE account, you will need to request for Pearson VUE to merge your old ID with your new ID so that all of your training records will appear under the same account in CertView (certview.oracle.com). Once you have received your Prometric ID from the support team, you can request to have your IDs merged at pearsonvue.com/oracle/idmerge.

i did all my oracle exams for oca and ocp under prometric, now i want to do another oracle exam but its under pearson vue, my questions is, can i use my prometric testing ID which was referred to my Oracle ID in pearson vue or i will have to register for a new Oracle ID?

Posted by hafiz on August 14, 2012 at 06:10 AM PDT #

You will use your Prometric Testing ID. If, for some reason, Pearson VUE assigns you a new testing ID, you should contact them immediately to have the IDs merged. You can find the contact information at pearsonvue.com/oracle/contact. You could also contact them to have them help you set up the account so that you don't end up with 2 IDs.

Hi Hameed,
Please contact Pearson VUE to follow up on your ID merge request. They should be able to give you a status.

How long does it take to get the different id's merged once a request has been submitted? I have an exam scheduled on 28 December. And i am unable to authenticate my certview account as my VUE account has a different Oracle id. Also will i be able to get my results only once the ids have been merged?

Thank you for your help.

Posted by Mayumi on December 26, 2012 at 11:47 PM PST #

Mayumi,
You should be able to get your results once your IDs are merged and your CertView account is authenticated. If your IDs are not yet merged, I would suggest that you contact Pearson VUE and find out what the problem is pearsonvue.com/oracle/contact.

It is really difficult doing a certificate exam in Oracle because of security rules of the web page of Oracle and Pearson Vue. I spent more than three hours for paying and I don´t have the calification three days later of doing the exam. I am really angry and disgusted.

Posted by Manuel on January 25, 2013 at 11:56 PM PST #

Manuel,
I'm not exactly sure what the issue is. Do you mean that you have taken the exam and have not yet been able to access your exam results? You can access exam results at certview.oracle.com by clicking on the link 'See My New Exam Results Now.'

If you need assistance, please contact our Oracle Certification Support team http://bit.ly/KMsuH3. I'm really sorry you're having so much trouble. They should be able to help you get on the right track.

Hi,
I have taken the SCJP 5.0 exam(055 exam series) in 2009 in a prometric centre, and yesterday I took the OCEJWCD(1Z0-899) exam registered with Pearson vue, and Now I have the issue of Prometric Id and my Oracle test Id, they are not linked. I contacted Pearson vue regarding this issue, and the customer service person said there is no way to merge these two Ids, but before taking the OCEJWCD exam I did check the pre-requisites and SCJP5.0 was one of them. How can I track my SCJP certificate history to this exam. Please help
Thanks,
Sindhu

Posted by guest on April 29, 2013 at 06:55 PM PDT #

Hi Sindhu,
The Pearson VUE customer service agent must have misunderstood you. If you took the previous exam at Prometric, your Prometric ID was loaded into Pearson VUE's system. Therefore, you can have these two IDs merged. I ask you to please call Pearson VUE again. You can get the numbers from www.pearsonvue.com/oracle/idmerge. Let them know that you need to merge 2 IDs. Provide them both IDs and they will be able to get the merge done.

I wouldn't even go into detail, to avoid confusion. I'd just say that you are calling to get two IDs merged; give them the 2 IDs and let them know which ID you'd like to keep.

Hi,
I'v taken OCJP on 2nd of december, but i havn't received the certificate yet,can you please provide me the link to download OCJP certificate & i even lost my oracle testing Id ,is there any other way to see my score card..?please suggest

Regards,
Sparsh

Posted by guest on May 07, 2013 at 09:27 PM PDT #

Sparsh,
You can view your score report and get instructions to request your certificate at certview.oracle.com. You'll need to first authenticate your account if you have not already, so you'll need your Oracle Testing ID and the email address that is in your Pearson VUE account.

If you do not know your Pearson VUE account details, you can contact Pearson VUE at pearsonvue.com/oracle/contact for assistance.

Hi,
I see that merging 2 oracle ID's is a common issue.
I've issued a request on : http://education.oracle.com/pls/eval-eddap-dcd/OU_SUPPORT_OCP.home?p_source=OCP to have those 2 ID merged. Is this enough or do I have to make a phone call to get them merged ? If yes, what is the telephone number for Romania ?
Can I see my results(it was an OCAJP 7 test) before the merge, using the ORACLE ID received in the email sent by oracle after the results were ready ? If yes, can you detail the steps ?
Thank you,
Marius

Posted by guest on June 14, 2013 at 03:39 AM PDT #

Hi Marius,
You do not need to make a phone call. You may be able to access your exam results by using the testing ID received in the email. You should try it. If not, you'll need to wait until the IDs are merged so that you can authenticate your CertView account.

HI,

I did SCJP certification in 2005 were i was given a Candidate ID. And did ocp certificate in 2009 and i was given a different Pearson testing ID. I need to know what should i do so that my SCJP and ocp certificates come under one Oracle testing ID.

Thanks
Parvez

Posted by guest on August 13, 2013 at 10:35 PM PDT #

Parvez,
You will need to have your IDs merged. You can request to have Pearson VUE do this. Go to www.pearsonvue.com/oracle/idmerge.

After you have had the IDs merged, wait approximately 48 hours and visit certview.oracle.com. This is where you will be able to view your certification history. You will need the email address and Oracle Testing ID from your Pearson VUE profile to authenticate the account before gaining access to your information.

Posted by Manasa on October 07, 2013 at 05:46 AM PDT #

Hi Manasa,
You should contact Pearson VUE and ask them to merge the IDs. You can find contact information at pearsonvue.com/oracle/idmerge. You should be able to view your results about 24 hours after the IDs are merged.

What is the exam code for OCA exam 1.

Posted by guest on March 04, 2014 at 07:07 AM PST #

There are several different OCA exams and certifications. I suggest that you start by having a look at our website to determine which certification you wish to pursue - certification.oracle.com.
