FAQ: Continuing Your Sun Certification Path

0399C1.jpg
Q) I passed a Part I exam in a Sun Certification path before September 1, 2010. Can I still obtain the certification if I pass the Part II exam under Oracle branding? Will my certification be Sun or Oracle?

The list below are those Sun-branded certification tracks that require multiple steps (i.e. Part I, Part 2 or Part 3). If you have completed Part I of any of the following exams, you do not need to re-test before moving onto part 2 or part 3. Upon completion of all steps, you will receive an Oracle-branded certification title.

  • Sun Certified Java Developer (SCJD)
  • Sun Certified Enterprise Architect (SCEA) EE5
  • Sun Certified System Administrator (SCSA) for Solaris OS 10
  • Sun Certified MySQL 5.0 Database Administrator (SCMDBA)
  • Sun Certified MySQL 5.0 Developer (SCMDE)

Hi, I am at Shanghai, China. Last month I successfully took the SCEA Part 1 at Prometric, last week, one of the employee in OU Shanghai told me that I can buy a voucher to take the part 2 when I asked her how to take the part 2, but this Friday(2010.12.17), she told me that the OU cannot sell the voucher for scea part 2, and she told me that i need to apply the refundment in process(the refundment would finish in more than 3 monthes) and need to take this exam(assignment) at some of the Pearson VUE Testing center, I asked some Pearson Testing center, but they does not take this exam. Can anybody let me know how I can continue to take the scea part 2 at Shanghai, China? Or I need to wait for the finish for Sun and Oracle certification integration?(I doubt my scea part 1 would expire in certain monthes if I do not take the part 2 and part 3), please help, thanks.

Lauer, It seems that this is an issue the our customer service team would best be able to assist with. Please contact them at suncert_ww@oracle.com. If you have already purchased a voucher from OU for the Part 2 exam (I assume you are referring to CX-310-301A Java Enterprise Edition 5 Enterprise Architect Certified Master Downloadable Project), the voucher that you purchased from OU will not work for this order. However, you can get this voucher replaced with a voucher that will work, an you do not have to go through the refund process. Please contact our customer service team and explain your situation in detail, including your Candidate ID and any open voucher numbers that you have. They will be happy to assist. Is that normal, that on https://i7lp.integral7.com/ i can see both passed exams (Oracle certified Mysql 5.0 Developer Part I and Part II) in the History menu, but when i click on the "Certification progress" the Part I. is marked as "Not Attempted". Prometric sais the same anyways, both exams are passed acco...rding to it... I passed both of them in 2010, but the Part I. had been passed before the Sun -> Oracle migration happened. AFAIK in this case, i should receive the new, Oracle certification, but correct me if i'm wrong. If im not, what's to be done to get the status of my exam in the Oracle's certification system (https://i7lp.integral7.com/) corrected? I cannot download logos, and do things atm... Thanks in advance. Attila

Hi Atilla, Looks like what may have happened is that they system is not recognizing the Part I exam for the Oracle-branded certification since it was taken before the re-branding. The customer service team can assist with getting this certification granted. Please contact them at suncert_ww@oracle.com and explain the situation and they will get it sorted out for you and get your certificate to you. Regards, Brandye Barrington

Good Morning!

I have already cleared my SCEA part-1 exam and also purchased voucher for part-2 exam. Expiry date is 2-Oct-2013. Unfortunately due to sickness I am not able appear for this exam tomorrow.

I have few queries:

Is it possible to extend the exam date? If yes then what is procedure to do that?

if no, do I need to purchase new voucher for part-2 and when?

Does it has any effect on part-1 result?

Please try to provide answers for the above queries as early as possible.

Thanks in advance!

I hope that you were able to get in touch with the support team and were able to get some assistance with this question. I am thinking that you mean you have completed your assignment and were not able to complete your essay within the deadline.

Please contact Oracle Certification Support http://bit.ly/KMsuH3 for assistance.
