FAQ: Do Sun Certified Candidates Need To Re-Take Oracle Certification Exams?

Q: If you're holding an existing Sun certification, do you need to do something to maintain that certification now that the certifications have been re-branded under Oracle? Will Sun certified candidates receive an Oracle certificate to replace their Sun certificates?

A: No. Candidates will not need to retake exams in order to keep their current Sun credentials. Future certification offerings may require candidates to take an exam or exams if they wish to upgrade to an Oracle certification title in the future but current Sun Certificate holders do not need to retest. Sun certifications will not be replaced with Oracle certificates. Candidates who obtained a Sun-branded certification prior to September 1, 2010 will maintain their Sun certification and candidates who obtained an Oracle-branded certification on our after September 1, 2010 will receive an Oracle certificate. Sun certifications remain valid under the Oracle Certification Program.
