Oracle To Begin Certification Exam Delivery Through Pearson VUE

Beginning September 25, 2009, Oracle certification exams will be offered through a new test delivery vendor – Pearson VUE -- and will no longer be available through Prometric.

Pearson VUE currently offers certification testing in more than 4,500 test centers worldwide, and we believe it will provide excellent service and global testing coverage for Oracle certification exams.

As of September 13th , candidates are no longer be able to register with Prometric (although candidates may still take their exam at Prometric through September 25th ). Registrations for Oracle exams through Pearson VUE began on September 14th, 2009. Candidates should visit pearsonvue.com/oracle to find more information, register for an exam or locate a testing center in their area. Existing Oracle exam vouchers will continue to be valid as long as they have not expired.

AFFECTED SYSTEMS

With the change from Prometric to Pearson VUE, we expect no disruption in availability of testing. However candidates should be aware of two system issues that may affect the shipment of your certificate and the timing of your certification. First, maintenance to Oracle’s certification database during the transition period may delay the shipment of your printed certificate up to two or three weeks. Second, our Hands On Course Requirement forms system will be down for maintenance from September 14 – September 28, 2009 while a new streamlined system is brought online. During the downtime, Oracle will work diligently to clear and validate all submitted forms, but no new submissions will be accepted. If you currently have an outstanding form that needs your attention, please respond to ocpreq_ww@oracle.com with the requested information as soon as possible to avoid a delay in receiving your success kit. After September 28, 2009 a new Course Submission Form will be live on the Pearson VUE website.

We have provided a series of FAQs for common questions related to the vendor change. For additional questions or further assistance, please contact Oracle Certification at ocpreq_ww@oracle.com.

We are excited about this transition, and are confident that this change will improve our service to you.

Comments:

although Pearson VUE have 4500 (or perhaps 5200+ from other sources) Testing Centres not all appear to be offering Oracle Examinations. In fact the 4 Pearson VUE Centres nearest to me in the UK do not appear to be offering Oracle Examinations. It seems reaosnable to ask why this is and what are the actual number of Pearson VUE Testing Centres actually offering Oracle Examinations.

Hi Sachin - only the delivery vendor and test delivery processes and security have changed. We still offer the same exams that we did through Prometric.

Posted by Paul Sorensen on November 18, 2009 at 02:20 AM PST #

Hello Vishal – Thank you for inquiry. Pearson VUE takes these allegations very seriously as I believe we have repeatedly demonstrated, including our recent successful investigation into improprieties by one of our testing centers that resulted in police action and a pending court case. If you know of, or have any direct evidence of improper behavior by a candidate or any of our test centers, please call our security team at PVTestSecurity@pearson.com. When candidates engage in improper behavior, with or without the assistance of a test center, it hurts everyone that has worked hard to earn their credentials. If you have specific knowledge, you should consider it your duty to help us put a stop to those that choose to operate outside of the law and to protect the integrity of these valuable industry certifications.

Does anyone ever tried taking an online exam using PearsonVue? I took an exam this morning, and I was so frustrated with the response time of the exam. I don't know if it had something to do with PearsonVue or with the Internet/VPN connection of the pearsonvue's partner ( MISnet Philippines). -On the average, it takes 10 seconds after clicking the "NEXT" button before the next item will be displayed. - Worst response time is 30 secs. - Re- Clicking the Next button skips questions. - I also encountered being redirected to a page, wherein I was unable to click the checkbox. I left clicked the mouse and clicked the refresh button, and it worked. - worst encountered I had is when "http connection error" in the middle of the exam. It really scares me and I really got frustrated during the exam. - Im just glad that the timer ( upper right corner of the screen ) doesnt seems to work properly, other wise I don't think that I do have enough time to review my answers given the situation. I plan to take another exam next year, hopefully, the connection will be a lot better by then.

If you have issues with an exam, you should always report the issues to the testing center so that they can file an incident report. We have make Pearson VUE aware of this issue so that they can follow up with the testing center to ensure their connections are set properly to deliver online exams. Dear sir, i'm certified 9i OCP DBA (exam through prometric) and planning to take exam 1z0-206 to be 11i OCE , how i can prove now that i'm certified OCP to gain the OCE. because if i created new account on VUE they will not recognize that i'm OCP through prometric. i think many freinds here faced this problem with their old certificates. please guide me to the solution provided from oracle best regards Gehad

Posted by Gehad on March 10, 2010 at 01:42 AM PST #

Hi Gehad - no worries. Pearson VUE (like Prometric) simply deliver the exams for us, but we here at Oracle manage your certificate history directly; so it therefore does not matter whether you took your exams at one test provider or both.

Hi Sandeep, When you select the option to schedule a test and login, I assume that you are taken to the screen to choose your exam. On this screen, only the exams that you mention above show up on the screen, but on the right side of the page (it is a little difficult to see) there is a scroll bar. This will allow you to scroll through all the exam listed. On the next screen, you will be able to search for a test center, There is one at: Pitman Training Centre - Edinburgh. Good luck on your exam! Brandye

Hi, I have done my OCA exam with 2 diff IDs (prometric and pearson vue). Can any1 help me with the steps to merge the IDs so tht i can get the certificate asap. I have already contacted the exam team. But couldnt contact the customer service for India. Regards, Praveena

Posted by Praveena on January 10, 2011 at 08:10 PM PST #

Praveena, You can find the information below in our FAQ http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=82#5Q1Ahead. "I have taken my tests under two different candidate IDs. How can I get these merged? If you have taken your exams (excluding Java, Oracle Solaris (Cluster), MySQL, NetBeans, OpenOffice.org) under two different Oracle Testing IDs you will need to contact Pearson VUE at www.pearsonvue.com/oracle/contact to request them to merge your two (or more) IDs. Please include in the email your full name and email address as well as all IDs that need to be merged, indicating which should be the surviving ID. Approximately 72 hours after you have received confirmation from Pearson VUE that your IDs have been merged, you can check your CertView account to ensure that all certifications and exams now show up under your account. If you have taken your Java, Oracle Solaris (Cluster), MySQL, NetBeans, or OpenOffice.org exams under two different IDs, you can contact Oracle at suncert_ww@oracle.com to request to have the IDs merged. Please provide your full name and email address as well as all IDs that need to be merged, indicating which should be the surviving ID. After you have received confirmation from Oracle that your IDs have been merged, you can check your account to ensure that all certifications and exams now show up under your account." Dear Sir,

I am looking for information for JSE 5.0 but not able to load the website pearsonvue.com/oracle, are there any centers in Madhya Pradesh, India?

I also spoke to one of the prometric center in my city and they said that you can register exam over oracle exam site and then select the specified prometric center and later can give online exam through there center. Is this possible? if yes will I get the certification copy over my postal address?

Thanks.

Jagdeep,
Exams are no longer available through Prometric testing centers. I'm not sure why you would not be able to access the Pearson VUE website. Try entering http://pearsonvue.com/oracle/ into your web browser. Otherwise, you can call Pearson VUE in your region at +91-120-4001600.

Hello this is Pranab sharma. Sir, I gave OCA part 1(1zo-007 ) from everonn compass but now they are saying that they are closing that center. So the problem is Can I give my next exam that is 1zo-147 from another center ? Is this allowed ?

Thanks in advance
Pranab

Posted by guest on January 29, 2012 at 10:52 PM PST #

Hi Pranab,
You do not have to take both exams at the same center. The thing that IS important though, is to ensure that you take both exams using the same account so that they are both under the same Oracle Candidate ID. Be sure that you use the same Pearson VUE login information to register for your second exam. You can also view your exam and certification history at certview.oracle.com.

Sir,
Please I wrote my IZO-042 on 30th March 2010, and am yet to receive my certificate. Whereas I wrote my IZO-047 in September 2011, and I have received my certificate. Please who should I channel my complaints to? I need my certificate URGENTLY.

Posted by Robert Dominic on March 22, 2012 at 04:53 PM PDT #

@Achin, you can find training centers in your area at http://bit.ly/dspqdH. You can find testing centers at pearsonvue.com/oracle.

@Robert please go to certview.oracle.com to be sure your tests were taken under the same account. You can look under the Certification Status>Certification History tab to see if the certification was granted. At the bottom of this page, you will find steps to follow up on your certificate. In CertView, you will also be able to email verification of your certification to someone else if you need to.

Hi Sir,

I have passed Intro to SQL 9i last 2010, and took it on Pearson Vue, now I will take the IZ0-052 Exam, but I have forgotten my Pearson Vue web account, can I create a new account?

If I created a new account, how will it be merged with my previous exam?

Thank You.

Posted by guest on September 08, 2012 at 07:52 AM PDT #

Please do not create a new account. Use the account retrieval tools on the Pearson VUE website - 'I forgot my user name' and 'I forgot my password.'

If you create a new account, the accounts will not be merged automatically and your previous exams will not be recognized. If you need assistance with account retrieval, you can contact Pearson VUE at pearsonvue.com/oracle/contact.

Hi Sravan,
Are you saying that these test centers are offering to help candidates cheat on exams for extra RS?

Please send all of the details you have to our Oracle Certification Support team http://bit.ly/Lt5vhm. If this is truly going on, we can de-authorize those companies from providing exams. However, we'll need to investigate so that we will have proof to back up our decision. So, any information you can provide will be helpful.

Hi,

I see comments ageing back from 2009 regarding very slow load and response time for pearson vue tests. I took a JAVA certification exam today.

I had to wait for 1.5hrs from scheduled time due to network issue from pearson vue( internet at test center was fine). After I took 10 questions, the connection just went off. I couldnt continue the exam for some reason. Even the 10 questions I attempted took ages to load. Honestly, its 2013. Even after 4 years, pearson vue hasnt improved ??

the test center person apologised and asked me to go back saying " we will reschedule your exam and contact you". The stupid Pearson vue customer care were not picking up the phone at all.

Now, I am really scared. I paid 8500rs for the exam. Will I get a reschedule for no extra money ?

My oracle ID : OC1208153

Posted by vinay on March 15, 2013 at 02:01 PM PDT #

Vinay,
I am sorry for the issues you had with your exam. This is actually not an issue of Pearson VUE, it is more likely an issue at the testing center. That said - you don't care whose issue it is, you just want it fixed. I understand.

It should not cost you any additional money to take the exam. I can check into this for you. I'll need:
1) Your incident number
2) The Pearson VUE number that you tried to call where they were not picking up

Thanks,
Brandye Barrington

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have paid my fees of Rs.8200/- for oracle exam(1z0-851) at authorized Pearson test center on 16th-Dec-2013 and have few questions regarding that.

I have paid my fees to authorized Pearson test center by cheque and i have been given receipt for that and my exam date was 30th December 2013.When i reached to the center on 30th December, i have been told that there are some problem going on at Pearson website so we can not schedule the exam today. So, he told me to rescheduled the exam on next Saturday i.e 4th January, 2014. Again on Saturday he gave me the same reason. Same thing happened on 17th January, 18th January.

On 18th January, 2014 when he was unable to schedule i have asked him to either give me voucher code or give me my money back. So, he provided me a cheque and when i inquire in bank about the balance, i found that there is no balance in his bank account.

I am really disappointed by the service and i am worried about the money that i have paid. I doubt because i haven't received any email from Pearson till now. Can you please help and let me know what to be done in that case?

I am looking forward for your reply.

Posted by guest on January 19, 2014 at 10:01 AM PST #

I'm sure that this has been extremely frustrating for you. I suggest that you contact Pearson VUE customer service with the full details, including the name and address of the testing center and be sure that you get an incident number from Pearson. The incident number is how you will track the progress of your issue.

I am sorry that you are experiencing this issue.

Brandye Barrington
