Hi Paul I am preparing for 10g OCP but I bit confused which exam, as far as I know I have to appear for IZ0-042 and IZ0-043, is there any other paper I need to clear to get OCP? What about IZ0-047 is it part of OCA/OCP or it is only for Pl/Sql Developer? Thanks Subrato

Posted by Subrato on September 05, 2009 at 03:31 AM PDT #

Hi Subrato - 1Z0-042 + a choice of one between several exams (see the 10g OCP page at http://bit.ly/bwXV) will get you to OCA, then exam 1Z0-043 + training will get you to OCP. 1Z0-047 is indeed one of those choices to hit the OCA level.

Any plans on making a blog advising young people on how to get into the industry? I plan to take my 11g Admin I exam in the next 2 months to become OCA but it'd be interesting to hear if there's anything else you/someone in the industry who recruits people as junior DBAs feel would provide a significant advantage (experience in a specific technology perhaps).

Mike - that's a good question and I'd recommend you head over now to the Oracle Certification Forum on OTN , where you can get some good feedback from others who are currently in the field.

The exams that are available as online exams are available anytime through pearsonvue.com/oracle. You can take them online, at your own location. However, not all Oracle Certification exams are available online. You can view the list at pearsonvue.com/oracle. You can also find test centers in your area and check exam prices at personvue.com/oracle. Another place to find local exam pricing is on our website at certification.oracle.com.

Manish,
We always recommend that candidates pursue the latest version of the certification. That said, this is largely a personal decision based on the market in your region. Which certifications are in the most demand in your area? You should do some research on your local market and look at your personal goals in making this decision. You can also search on this topic in our Certification Forum http://bitly.com/iRHsSl. This has been commented on several times before. Good luck with whichever path you choose.

Hi i have completed OCA course and got a participation certified from Oracle how can i give the online exam of OCA and further do OCP course.
Is Oracle DBA different from the OCA,OCP courses.

Posted by guest on August 16, 2011 at 10:02 PM PDT #

You can do one of the exams in the DBA OCA path online and the other must be taken in a test center. You can register for all Oracle Certification exams (except DBA OCM exams) at pearsonvue.com/oracle. If you are registering for an online exam (007 or 051), then select 'Non-Proctored.'

There are not OCA and OCP courses. OCA means 'Oracle Certified Associate' and OCP means 'Oracle Certified Professional.' There are numerous OCA and OCP certifications in various areas. A DBA can be an OCA and and OCP, but a Developer can also be an OCA and an OCP. You would take classes on Database Administration, not on OCA or OCP.

You can find more information on our website at certification.oracle.com.

Hello Raj,
Please find the answers to your questions below:

1. Can I give OCP Exam before OCA?
You can take the exams in any order. However, you will only receive the OCP certificate once you have completed all the requirements which include training (in most cases), and the OCA certification.

2. What subjects should I prepare to get OCP certification? I have good understanding in SQL and PL/SQL programming.
You should have a look at our website at certification.oracle.com to help determine which certification(s) you would like to pursue. You can view exam topics for each exam to assess your knowledge level. There are also recommended training classes offered on each exam page.

3. What are the process to register for exam and where should I contact in India?
You can register for the exam at pearsonvue.com/oracle. On this site, you will also be able to find locations near you.

hi paul
i would like to know if i could appear for IZ0-043 exam and get an ocp certificate. i do have an OCA(9i) certifacate (IZ0-007 and IZ0-031).

Posted by cathrene on September 06, 2011 at 08:01 PM PDT #

9i DBA OCA is not upgradable to 10g DBA OCP. You will need to either 1) complete the 9i DBA OCP certification and upgrade from 9i DBA OCP to 10g DBA OCP http://bit.ly/14XK0S OR 2) you can go through the standard 10g DBA OCP path, starting with the 10g DBA OCA exams, completing training and passing the 10g DBA OCP exams. Since you have completed the 007 exam, you will only need to pass the 042 exam to obtain 10g DBA OCA.

Hi Amit,
You can find test centers in your area at pearsonvue.com/oracle. However, for the DBA OCP certifications, instructor-led training will be required in order to become certified. You will need to take an in-class or online instructor-led course, or you can choose a course in our new 'Training On Demand' format if available in your area. secondly which one of the two exams do you suggest between 147 and 144,as is which will be easy.

The PL/SQL Developer OCA certification is not branded with a version. It will not be 10g or 11g, only Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate with no version.

There have been some helpful thoughts posted on our Certification Forum http://bit.ly/oDYL8C on choosing between the two exams. Do a quick search and you should find what you're looking for. Good luck on your certification path!

I am uday, working as Oracle Apps Fins Consultant from the past two and half years and done implementations projects, support projects & upgade projects.

Now i would like to take up some Oracle Certifications belongs to Financials.

Please clarify the following,
1. What is the difference between Certified Expert & Certified Implementation Specialist Certifications?
2. What is the objective of having these two certifications?
3. Which one am I required to pick it up as my first Certification?

Thanks in Advance...

Regards,
Uday

Posted by Uday on May 02, 2012 at 11:27 PM PDT #

1. What is the difference between Certified Expert & Certified Implementation Specialist Certifications?

The Expert certification is a little higher level certification than Specialist.

2. What is the objective of having these two certifications?

There is really no reason that a candidate would need to have both certifications. If you plan on eventually moving to the Expert certification, you may as well go ahead and start with that one.

3. Which one am I required to pick it up as my first Certification?

These are not dependent on each other. You can choose the one that you prefer.

Hi ,
This is sanjay.
I have one doubt regarding OCA certication for Pl/sql developer. As we know we have to undergo/clear two exams to be OCA certified, so once we write the 1st test( for sql for e.g. say IZO 047) then within how many days i have to write the next level exam(for e.g. IZO 147)to successfully complete. OCA certification
implanning to write IZO 047 by end of June 2012.

Hi,

I am looking for a good to prepare for OCA exam (1z0-042).. I have studied from several books but need one where I can get all the required information..

Thanks in advance.

Sandeep

Hi Sandeep,
I'm not sure that that is a single book that contains all the information. I suggest that you take 2 steps. 1) Go to http://bit.ly/OBvBng and review the exam topics to determine where your knowledge gaps lie and 2) search on our Certification Forum http://bit.ly/Lt5vhm for books in addition to the ones you're currently using.

Good luck on your exam!

Hi ,

After reading above blogs I am getting confused.
I want to give OCA certification (PL/SQL developer), please specify that do I need to give IZO- 047 or IZO- 007 for part-1 and for Part -2 IZO -047 is that correct ?
I had tried to check in Certificetion link which was given above was not getting opened .
Please advice me here only .

Thanks in advance.
Sonali.

Posted by Sonali on July 07, 2013 at 06:21 AM PDT #

Hi Sonali,
As you can see on this track page http://bit.ly/19o8LWz, you can take 007, 047 or 051 and then take 147 or 144.

007 retires on July 31, so if you plan to take that exam, you will need to take it before that date. If you do not plan to test before that date, you should begin preparing for 051 or 047.

Thanks,

Senthil and Kumar,
You will need to pass the 1Z0-147 ENU. The 'JPN' version is only for candidates in Japan.

Hi Sandeep,
You likely did not get the OCP certificate because you did not complete training, or you did not submit your course details. If you have completed the required training, you will need to submit the course details. You can do this at pearsonvue.com/oracle>Submit Course Form.

Another possibility is that your exams were taken under different testing IDs. You should go to certview.oracle.com and have a look at your certifications achieved page. At the bottom of this page, you will see scenarios for why you may not have received your certificate. There are further instructions on that page.

Hello Sir/Madam,

I would like to go ahead with Oracle DBA Track. I am not sure how many papers I have to give in all.

Kindly advise.

Posted by Selvam on January 06, 2014 at 10:24 AM PST #

Hi Selvam,
I assume that you are referring to the 12c DBA track? There are 2 exams for the OCA level of certification, and an additional exam and training course for the OCP level of certification.

You can find full requirements as well as exam information and training recommendations on our website at certification.oracle.com.
