Oracle Launches New Oracle Linux 6 Certifications; Oracle Linux 5 Exams To Retire

Oracle Certification announces the release of the new Oracle Linux 6 certification paths. These new OCA and OCP credentials will give you a solid foundation of knowledge to implement and administer the Oracle Linux Operating System. Oracle Certification is also announcing the retirement** of the existing Oracle Linux certifications.

ORACLE CERTIFIED ASSOCIATE (OCA)
The "Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle Linux 5 and 6 System Administrator" (OCA) is designed for individuals who possess a strong knowledge of the Oracle Linux Operating System, and covers topics such as: describing Oracle Linux concepts and understanding system configuration options, installing Oracle Linux and installing and maintaining packages, as well as managing kernel modules, users and groups, storage devices and network configuration.  This certification differentiates candidates in the marketplace by providing a competitive edge through proven expertise on the only Linux distribution that's fully optimized for Oracle products and for running on Oracle's engineered systems including Oracle Exadata Database Machine, Oracle Exalytics In-Memory Machine, Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud, and Oracle Database Appliance. Up-to-date training and field experience are recommended.

Earning this certification requires passing a single exam: "Oracle Linux 5 and 6 System Administration" (1Z0-100). This exam is currently in beta testing and is now available for registration through Pearson VUE testing centers worldwide. Although there is no required training for this certification, the Oracle Linux System Administration course is highly recommended to help ensure success on the certification exam.

ORACLE CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL (OCP)
Building on the competencies in the Oracle Linux 5 and 6 OCA certification, the "Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Linux 6 System Administrator" (OCP) certification for Oracle Linux 6 will cover more advanced knowledge and skills of an Oracle Linux Administrator.

Earning this certification will require passing a single exam: "Oracle Linux 6 Advanced System Administration" (1Z0-105). This exam will be released in beta testing at a later date.

ORACLE LINUX 5 EXAMS TO RETIRE
With the release of the new Oracle Linux certification paths, Oracle announces the retirement of the current Oracle Linux 5 exams. These exams will retire on October 31, 2013. Existing certification holders should note that these retirements suspend the delivery of any further exams, but do not affect your certification. If you currently hold an Oracle Linux certification earned by one of the retiring exams, your credential remains fully valid.
