Oracle Certification is important if you want to build a career rather than simply get a job. The building blocks you use are important. This is why Oracle's flagship database certifications build on each other, beginning with the Associate level of certification (the foundation of your career), moving on to the Professional level (the bulk of the building), and capping it all off with the Master level (keeping with the building parlance, this might be the luxury pool you add once you've built some equity in your home).
Sometime ago we provided a diagram to walk you through choosing the best path for navigating your Oracle Database certification options and begin building your dream career. If you have begun exploring your path, you may have noticed that there is a little more to the story. Once you've selected your job role and the version of Oracle Database certification that you wish to pursue, you still need to select which exam you'll take to fulfill your SQL requirement.
Much has already been written about which SQL exam to choose. Instead of repeating here what has already been written, I wanted to provide a resource to help navigate this choice. (Note that exam 1Z0-047 has been retired since these reference articles were written.)
As you make your choice, keep in mind that in building a lasting career, you want to lay down the strongest foundation possible so that your foundation will continue to support your growth through the years. Be sure that you give this step the thought an consideration it deserves.
