My BDC Intern Experience at Oracle by Zeynep

Guest Author

Hi Everyone,

My name is Zeynep. I am a Business Development Consultant
(BDC) intern based in Istanbul. As everyone says, first impressions are very
important. I am also a firm believer of this theory. My team and my Managers
are based in Prague. Before I started my internship, I thought that focusing
and contacting with them would be tough. However, my manager came to Istanbul
during our first week to help us settle in to Oracle.

On our first day, he explained the organization structure
and organized training for us to learn Technology products such as Oracle DB,
FWM and BI.
One full week of training passed. At the end of week we were
informed of which district we will be responsible for. I am responsible for the
European region; Automotive, Manufacturing, Textile, Retail and Chemical
sectors
. One of our key responsibilities includes speaking with the customer
and identifying their IT needs. We carried out test calls with our manager to
see how to behave when facing different attitudes from customers. Our targets
and number of leads are qualified and are defined quarterly. At the beginning
these numbers seemed scary and hard to achieve; but it gets easier day by day.
We also had a web conference with the Prague team. Then, we organized my first
actions with OD Sales team. They assisted us in each step. It made me feel
comfortable.

I had a chance to attend events which were organized by our
Business Partners and Oracle. I am very thankful to be given this opportunity
at very beginning of my experience. I can see how my initial point of view has
changed and broadened in 4 months. This is the photo from Oracle Day in
Istanbul
. It was a great part of my internship. There were around 1200 people
with customers, business partners and so on.

Being a part of Oracle is blessing. My dream has come true
and I am lucky that I am being given so many opportunities and gaining lots of
amazing experience throughout my internship.
