How to gain valuable skills to make it in Sales?

Resilience, ambition, a target driven mentality, and a positive, team oriented attitude makes up a successful Customer Intelligence Representative (CIR). This is the entry level position of Oracle Direct and the first step to succeed in your IT sales career.

These skills will be taught through the day-to-day tasks of identifying key contacts to be utilized in the sales process of all of Oracle Direct in EMEA. As you are constantly challenged on the job, as well as in the vast trainings available from Oracle, they will become second nature. Hence if you don’t possess them now, you will definitely, when you are ready to move into the Business Development Consultant role.

Through the day-to-day work as a CIR, your telesales skills will be utilized to the fullest in order to reach your targets. Therefore the CIR role is a good foundation for approaching a target driven organization, where the numbers you present will be determined for your overall performance. Therefore you will become highly target-driven, becoming able to perform to your best continuously as your day is finished when you have reached your 100%. A successful CIR will be looking to overachieve and make sure to deliver outstanding numbers. Therefore it takes a great deal of resilience to keep hitting your numbers and keep working, even when the results are hard to reach.

But you will not be able to make your targets on your own; you will need to look to your team for motivation, experience and mentoring. While your results are independent, you will not succeed if you are not engaging your team members for sparring. There is room for everyone in Oracle, and the relations built during your time in CIR will be a platform for networks which you will benefit from for the rest of your career in Oracle or in other lines of organizations. Definitely these skills will be beneficial to any career dealing with multinational business challenges.

Therefore, in the role you will have a great range of personal and professional experiences, from having a great time out with your team members, to overachieving your targets and becoming a top performer. So to any individual looking for a challenging sales experience, Oracle CIR is a great first experience handling large multinational accounts and identifying strategic projects for improving global IT infrastructures.

My name is Lasse and after my Master degree in International Business I spent 5 months as Customer Intelligence Representative before moving to a Business Development Consultant role. I am still benefiting from my experiences as a CIR, as it allowed me to successfully enter my new role and helps me to continuously overachieve my targets. So the only thing left to do is to wish you good luck and hopefully I can welcome you in Oracle.
