Hey Guys and Gals,
I am Ankit, a graduate from BITS-Pilani Goa Campus 2011 batch. Since then it has been 2 amazing years of experience in Oracle Server Technologies (Oracle ST) and like they say, I'm loving it. I work at the 4th floor of Oracle Lexington Towers, Bangalore for the team EM (dev) popularly known as Enterprise Manager in the industry.
Oracle as an organization needs no introduction! It’s not just a Database company but much more than that. There are several other products that come under Oracle ST like Fusion Middleware (FMW), Enterprise Manager (EM), and Oracle Cloud. These are some of the famous products of Oracle ST, which are used by big enterprises like Microsoft, e-bay, Amazon and the list goes on!
What do I do in Oracle?
I work for the product Enterprise Manager (EM). As the name suggests, it's a product which is used by enterprises to manage its various technologies. Every enterprise needs to manage its technologies like server applications and EM is the product which helps them do just that. Here in EM, I work for the Exalogic Management. Exalogic an Engineered System: an assemblage of best-of-breed storage, compute, network, operating system and software products that are integrated, tested, tuned, optimized, delivered and supported by Oracle as a single factory-assembled unit.
My work requires me to explore almost all the utilities which we use in EM, some of them like Java, XML, SQL, ADF (an application development framework). I have contributed to 4 versions of product releases and work on fifth is in progress. Oracle is a Global organization which has its development centers in India, USA and Europe to name a few. The HQ is in Redwood Shores, USA and in India EM team is based mainly in Bangalore and Hyderabad.
">Why is Oracle a fun place to work?
The countless team lunches, team outings, product release parties, New Year parties, volunteers' club, Fun@Work Employees club - the list goes on. Not only parties but the working environment like flexible timings, facility to work remotely, work from home altogether makes Oracle a fun, friendly and great place to work for and helps you balance your work and personal life.
Advice for new hires and interested candidates?
Just a small piece of advice for people who are looking forward to work with Oracle ST is to be good with the basics of Computer Science and be confident. And to all the new hires of 2013, I am happy to welcome you to the Oracle ST family, and wish you good luck
