Being a young graduate at Oracle
By firstname.lastname@example.org on Nov 24, 2010
My name is Sofian and I'll try to share with you a part of my fresh experience as young graduate and Oracle employee.
I am 24 years old and arrived in Dublin, Ireland from France 9 months ago. But my story with Oracle had started a few years ago...
The last 3 years of my education were spent in the South of France at Toulouse Business School to complete a Masters degree in Business–to-Business and, first and foremost, to get more familiar with the corporate world. Indeed, I got the opportunity to meet several professionals from different sectors and functions and one of them convinced me to launch my young sales career in a dynamic and growing market.
After my graduation I started as Business Development Consultant for Oracle University - France in Dublin. My mission was to assist the entire sales team based in Ireland. The team was made up of 11 Sales Representatives and the goal was to seek new business opportunities and sell training to the French customers. This position of Business Development Consultant did not exist before for in Oracle University and, as a team, we made this first experience a great success. The BDG department was then growing and new joiners put the team size around 10 employees for Western Europe. We were adding value to Oracle University and, as young sales representatives, were learning a lot in terms of sales skills, from new leads identification to deal closing, and all about IT technologies.
As my next step, I decided to continue my experience in an IT consulting company in France. The goal was to get the required field experience necessary to broaden my sales skills. After 18 months, I was back in Oracle as Education Sales Representative, in charge of the Oracle Partner Network accounts. I have successfully achieved my first 9 months and am now ready for a new year full of rewarding steps and new challenges!
Talk to you soon. Sofian
