Campus Recruiting – Gangnam Style!

Korea has produced many great things -  from kimchi, kbbq, Psy, LG, Hyundai, Samsung.. But again, it has produced some amazing graduates that were welcomed into the Oracle family in June 2013. I was extremely blessed to meet all 23 GIPs (Graduate intake Program – a term used by Oracle Korea for their grads) in my most recent trip to Seoul. All of them were their own individuals. All possessed talents that were so unique to them individually, but one thing certainly stood out – all displayed the characteristics that is Oracle. Optimistic, Proactive, Independent, Highly Motivated, Driven, Strong Communicators, Leadership qualities, Team player, Fast learner, High Achiever, Responsible individuals whilst being very genuine, down to earth, fun and outgoing individuals.

As I sat in Oracle Korea’s head office (located in Samsung-dong, Gangnam-ku), looking at all these graduates with such admiration, I had the sudden thought – “how am I going to reciprocate this and bring on-board, yet another group as talented, as hungry, unique individuals?”...

2. How were the first few weeks @Oracle?

My first week at Oracle was exciting and nerve nerve wracking at the same time. Exciting because it was great to be part of such a prestigious company and nerve wracking because it was a new experience and a new environment with new people. A Graduate’s Words of Advice from Beijing, China

Hi! My name is Jing, a FY13 trainee from Beijing China.

Since your major in university is probably not computing or technology, you might hesitate that if you can adapt to the atmosphere and have a great career development in Oracle before you apply for the graduate trainee program. My response to this doubt is to: Go ahead!

For myself: I am a postgraduate student of Media and Communications from University of Leicester. So you can hardly imagine how surprised and excited I was when received a job offer from Oracle. It was also a bit vacillating in my opinion at first but finally I decided to have a try, and then I found it was a smart choice!

As one of the largest international companies, Oracle is obviously an expert on exploring the potential and possibility of inexperienced new hires....[Read More]

Meet our Interns: Ugochukwu, Pre Sales Rep in Nigeria

1. Please introduce yourself and your current role at Oracle.
My name is Ugochukwu Osuji Patrick and I am currently a Pre Sales Rep in the Applications line of business. The role entails understanding and providing potential clients with a functional overview of the application they intend to acquire.  I also prepare presentations about the application and in some cases demonstrate the use of the application to the client.  Part of my role also entails holding ‘discovery sessions’ with potential customers.  I am an MBA (Information Systems) graduate from Edith Cowan University, Australia and I also hold a degree in Economics from Imo State University.

2. How were the first few weeks @Oracle?
The first number of weeks were very exciting and I was privileged to be part of the Oracle Nigeria "Go Red 2013" Team building intake.  It gave me a lot of insight in to who I was going to be working with and as such, gave me a soft landing to the company as it was easy to get to know everyone in a relaxed environment. Everyone is nice and are willing to help and support you with your queries. I was able to learn a lot of things about the services I was going to be dealing with as most members of the team held tutorial sessions to explain what each application, hardware or technology did.  I was involved with a customer discovery session and I thought it was very interesting. Another exciting thing about the first few weeks were the way all the new interns mixed with each other, it felt like we had known each other for years.

3.
Is there anything different from what you expected to find at Oracle?

To be honest, I expected a very uptight and tense working environment, but to my surprise I noticed it was quite a relaxed and laid back environment. Everyone is friendly and are willing to help and I have not felt like an intern as everyone treats me like a normal member of the team. The structure was also surprising, I felt it was going to be all about seniority but everyone is cordial and friendly and it is difficult to differentiate between the managers and other staff.  Oracle's work culture was completely different from what I expected................

New beginnings with Oracle Campus Recruiter Phillip Yi

As I sit here on level 7, Tower B at Oracle’s Australian headquarters in North Ryde, I reflect on the journey that has been the past 10 months since joining Oracle. To me Oracle did have its familiarity – coming from an IT Recruitment background I would meet candidates that specialised in technologies like Primavera, Hyperion, Java, MYSQL, JD Edwards, Sun, PeopleSoft, Siebel, Taleo.. Little did I know that I would one day work for the IT conglomerate that would own them all.

Who is Oracle? ‘A database company’ – as I’ve heard it many times before. But Oracle is so much more than just a Database company. Oracle is truly a leader in IT innovation  – hardware and software, engineered to work together. Reducing the complexity, simplifying IT. Over 9,000 products, with over 2,000 patents. 32,000 developers, running over 300,000+ test scripts nightly. 6,500 customer-driven enhancements yearly. 1 million+ students supported and over 20,000 implementation consultants. Not to mention being ranked #1 in 40 product or product and industry categories with over 380,000 customers in 145 countries and over 100,000+ employees...
