Being an Oraclite - More Than a Dream by Dhanush!!

Those were the days, when I would be working on my laptop and suddenly a pop-up regarding java updates would show up prompting me to update Java on my system. Once updated, it would always show "Oracle" in red and fascinate me.

In our day to day life we come across so many software applications that make our life simple and easier with their user friendly experience and latest sophisticated innovative technologies. This inspired me to get into IT field and to learn and contribute to technology.

Reaching the final year of engineering, one question that bothers a student the most would be "What next"?  And it had already begun haunting my mind. I was looking towards getting a Placement in an Organization where I will be able to utilize and enhance my knowledge.

When the placement process began and we heard that a unit of Oracle ‘Oracle Cloud Services’ is coming to our college my excitement knew no bounds. Yes!!! It is the same "Oracle" which would fascinate me always. I was very excited and started preparation with full enthusiasm.

The recruitment process of Oracle started on 13th Sept 2014 with an online test with over 400+ candidates attempting it. It was the "race of life" for everyone including me. Adding to my anxiety, it took 4 panicking days for the results to get announced and yippee!!! I was one among the top 66 students who cleared the test...

Taking the next big step in life with Oracle by Soham!!

Days come and days go. But there are days on which you start from no where and in the end finish it off in a style you had never thought before. 3rd September, 2014 was one such day. It was that very day on which Oracle Financial Services Software (OFSS) came to our campus for recruitment. Having cleared the aptitude & technical test I got the opportunity to appear for the interviews.

It was just like any other day from waking up to rushing to college to attend the Pre Placement Talk. But things started to become more exciting as the interview rounds began. There were going to be two rounds of interviews-Technical & HR/Behavioral. In the beginning there were about 110 candidates for the interviews. As I sat and waited for my turn the coordinators came from time to time and declared the names of people who were rejected or selected for the next round of interview. So as u can guess the adrenaline levels began to rise gradually.

As I was a student of Electrical Engineering I was quite unsure about what the interviewers would like to see in me because I being from a Non-IT background was not that familiar with CS stuffs like C++, Java, DBMS etc. I saw my friends trying to study thick books of CS as if they would mug up the whole book within hours but I decided to keep it simple and show them the real me and be honest about what I know and what I dont know...

Realised a dream by Akshata!!

We were greeted by the unpredictable Chennai rains when we had Oracle recruitment. It only added to my nervousness before the first round, but the interviewer greeted me cordially and helped me calm my nerves. In this first round I was tested on basics of the programming skills, languages, puzzles etc. Then came the arduous wait for the results whether I was shortlisted for the next round.

The moment I heard my name I was filled with joy and entered the second round on a high. Hence I was able to answer confidently and in a better way than the first round. But as I waited again for the call for the final round, I was both excited yet nervous, as I could see my dream coming true. It all sunk in only when finally I was called to attend the final HR round. It was one of those occasions where you feel so near to our dream and hence enjoy the interaction without tension. Here in I was asked a few things about myself.

The process in general is very well designed to test our programming and related skills, and the interviewers helped us settle comfortably on this tense occasion for a student who is on the cusp of realizing their dreams

Placed in Oracle..A dream lived by Nitish!!

Oracle needs no introduction. Everyone from the IT world aspires to be a part of Oracle. No doubt, the best brains at every college compete against each other to join such a prestigious company.

Oracle visited our campus on 3rd September 2014. A pre-placement talk was organized before the interview.Having shortlisted for the interview itself was a big motivation for me, but, obviously I was not alone. There were 70 more students shortlisted for the same, most of them being from CS and IT branches. So, the competition was really tough. During the talk, my mind was obsessed with the thought that if I would be smart enough to be a part of this group or not and that made me nervous. But to my utter surprise, one of the panel shared how nervous he felt during his college days at the time of interview and how he overcome it, I instantly related my situation with his narration. That made me quite relaxed and boosted my confidence. Finally the interview started. It had two rounds. The first round was a technical round and the second was an HR round.

My Technical interview began on a relaxed note. It was more of a discussion than the regular Question Answer session. The interviewer was very experienced and friendly. I was asked to explain my projects. Later, he asked me to write simple codes like finding transpose of a matrix, conversion of decimal numbers to roman numerals etc. Innovative approach was encouraged. Some questions from C++ and basics of Operating system were also touched upon. I also realized , the questions were aimed more to test the clarity of ideas and the ordering of the thoughts, than the detailed technical description . Finally, he gave me puzzles to solve. I was nervous if i would clear the H.R round, but yes luck and my parents blessings favoured me.I was called in for the H.R round .

Student Engagement + Customer Engagement = Inspiration by David Talamelli!!

I have been travelling to India for the past 4 years now at the end of November/early December to visit our India Campus Team, meet with internal customers and go to the IIT’s for Oracle’s IIT hiring. This trip while I am only half way into my itinerary has been such a productive, humbling and inspirational trip for me.

I am so proud of our India Campus Team, I always wanted our team to be known for providing outstanding customer service and for leading the way in campus recruitment. There are always challenges in a large corporate environment but our team has so much positivity about them it is contagious and I see this in the conversations I have with our customers who believe in what we do and the direction we are going. From so many conversations with our team and with our customers I am very excited for the future of Oracle Campus Recruiting in India (stay tuned for more :)

Equally inspiring is getting the chance to talk to students and hear their stories and hear about their experiences here at Oracle. Earlier this week, I had the chance to meet about 50-60 of our graduates who started earlier in the year with us. In Asia-Pacific we hire a large volume of students. It was so great to be able to meet some of our recent graduate hires and hear from them the positive impact of getting the chance to work at Oracle has given the them. I also had the chance to meet a group of graduates who joined us earlier in the year, who give their time, effort and resources to help under privileged children locally in Bangalore. To see such generosity and maturity from students to give back to the community they way they do is really a humbling experience. We assisted and donated a number of Oracle backpacks that will be used and welcomed...

The Day Oracle Happened by Juanita!!

Having special interest in database management and data integrations, ORACLE was the core company that I had always dreamt of. When I got to know that ORACLE was visiting our campus for recruitment I knew this was my chance.

The first round was an online aptitude test and I was eagerly waiting for the results which were out after four days. I was thrilled to see my name in the top 66. The competition now was going to be tough and I started preparing earnestly. The next day morning along with the selected students I attended the pre placement talk which was motivating and we were given a brief insight about ORACLE.

All of us were then divided into batches and called for interviews accordingly. Handling nervousness and pressure, I was anxiously waiting for my turn. My interview was at 6 in the evening. I managed to keep a smile and give my best. The questions were mostly based on cloud computing which is my favorite subject and elective. I was asked a puzzle, based on logical reasoning for which I was able give a good answer. At the end of the first technical round all I wanted was to see my name in the the 30 short listed names. I was on my way home when I got a call from my best friend saying I had made it to the second technical round. It was indeed a step closer to my dream.

The interviews were scheduled at 9 the next morning and all of us were ready in the waiting room.Tension and anxiety clearly reflected in everyone’s face. I was asked questions based on my major project and I answered well. More puzzles based on clocks and logical reasoning followed. I was asked about my dreams and ambitions. I knew that I had given my best. I was called to the HR round next which turned out to be a friendly interview. I was asked about my family, my hobbies and my interest in databases.

It was 3 in the afternoon when the interviews were done and I was sitting with the other candidates. With fingers crossed I prayed that my name be called. “Juanita Mendonca!”. And there it was! I was finally an ORACLEite!!!

I was still trying to sink in the feeling that my dream had indeed come true!!! My joy knew no bounds. Truly it was an amazing experience.

My parents were proud, loads of happiness and well wishes from family and friends flowed in.

Proud to be an ORACLEite!!!

Yes!! It indeed is Oracle in my destiny by Keerthana

The initial process of getting into Oracle was answering an online test for which 450 people had registered. So, the hope of clearing the exam was obviously less. When I got to know that I had cleared it and I was one of those 66 people who were eligible for the next process, again a faint hope arose in my mind. Finally commenced the Oracle day, that was Sept. 18th which began with the pre placement talk which I would say was very informative. It made me feel like if I had desired for something, it was Oracle. Later, once the talk was done, Technical Interview process started. Initially I was extremely scared and nervous as it was my first interview ever. Later when my turn came, somehow tried to build up my confidence level and entered the cubicle. I was welcomed with a very warm smile by the interviewer. There was a very good rapport built between the interviewer and me as both of us had one common matter to discuss apart from the technical stuffs, it was astrology. The interview went on for nearly half an hour. I was very happy at the end of the day because I felt my interview really went well.

After I reached home at around 8’o clock I got to know that I made up to the next round. I was very delighted and at that point of time I felt that I must not come back bare handed. I prepared something on some subjects. Next day, on september 19th was the 2nd technical interview. I was called in the morning itself to the interview cubicle. It was a very long interview. The interviewer explored the very technical knowledge in me. But yes, I would not forget to say that the interviewer was very kind, warm hearted and he made me feel comfortable...[Read More]

When Joy knows no bounds by Sonakshi

Hi, I am Sonakshi Gupta. I have been recruited by ORACLE UGBU unit through on-campus placements. First of all I am extremely happy that I am going to be a part of an extremely well established, multinational computer technology corporation like Oracle.

On the day of interviews, the presentation given by recruiters was mind-blogging. Through just a half-hour session a complete picture of Oracle was well drawn. The various kinds of products developed by Oracle and its various business units were amazing to know. I was enthralled by the steady growth rate of Oracle in the past few years. The fact that it acquired sun-microsystems in 2010 exhibits its growth in the industry.

I would like to share my interview experience. First there was a written test which comprised of aptitude questions and mcq’s on computer fundamentals. I was shortlisted along with 60 other students. The interviews were conducted one week later. The most wonderful thing which touched my heart was in my first round of interview, when I sat for the systems profile of Oracle unit(Banglore). But after looking through the kind of projects done by me and my areas of interest the interviewer automatically shifted me to the developer profile of UGBU unit. I was extremely happy that the interview took into consideration of all the aspects and chose a perfect profile for me as I was interested more in Enterprise Java development and databases. The entire interview panel was very friendly and encouraging. I got confused for one question in operating systems in my first round but the interviewer took me into a zone where I could clear all my doubts and he carved out a niche for me where I was in a comfortable situation with no tension and nervousness. I thought and gave him answers to all his questions which were mostly on Operating Systems and Computer Networks...

Prayers Answered,Wishes Came True by Sapna!!

It was on 18th of September, 2014 when the team of Oracle –CLOUD SERVICES had come to our college for recruitment. Everyone was tensed and so was I. We were 66 in number and everyone wanted to get into ORACLE. There was a pre-placement talk conducted which was followed by the interview process. Everyone was eagerly waiting for their turn to come and when my turn came I went into the interview cubicle with only one motive that “I have to do it at any cost”.

My First technical interview was completely based on 6th semester subjects and puzzles. I managed to clear the first technical round and was one among the 30 students who cleared the first round.

The second technical round was based on my favorite subject i.e Operating Systems and I managed to answer the questions based on it. I was also asked regarding my final year project. Then came the third technical round where I was asked about certain UNIX commands, UNIX architecture and Computer Networks and puzzles too. I was self-satisfied and was hoping for the best.

Finally I was called for the HR interview where I was asked to tell about myself and she even asked me to sing a song. I especially enjoyed the HR round a lot.

Finally we were waiting for the results to be announced. As the results were being announced my heart was beating faster and I was praying that my name should be one among the several names and luckily my name was the last name to be announced. So I was one among the 16 people who made it into ORACLE-CLOUD SERVICES and now I can proudly say that I’m an ORACLEite.

The Moment When Your Dream Comes True by Anjali !!

ORACLE in our college campus! Nothing could have made me happier than that news ,for it was my dream company that was in our college.

Well, the first step in the process of me being an ORACLEite commenced with an Online Test conducted for hundreds of students in our college campus, out of which few made it to the next round and I was one among them. After which we went through a short, yet informative pre placement talk where we got a clear picture of what ORACLE was and what would our responsibilities be as an ORACLEite. The next, was the most anticipated....

The Chain of Interviews. On the first day I went through a technical interview where I was asked questions regarding my favourite subjects and projects. After a long wait, I got to know that I had made it to the next round while I was on the bus on my way back home. Thrilled, Excited, Confident, I was all set to face my next round of interview the very next day.

It was a technical round and it went really well. As I was the first person to finish my technical interview I was immediately sent for HR interview, which was short, comforting and informative. At the end of the day, results were out and Yes ! I was an ORACLEite !Friends congratulating, Teachers blessing , Parents feeling proud, that moment was the most memorable moment of my life ....

There's a saying in Hindi which goes like this "Kehte hai sache dil se mango toh bhagwan bhi mil jata hai....". So yes ! Finally, I got what I had always prayed for and dreamt about ...BEING AN ORACLEite.

That Awesome Feel by Prashant Pinto !!!

It was the morning of September 13th 2014, The 4th floor at NMAM institute of technology was packed with final year engineering students, anxiously waiting for the online test to start. The online test was the first round in the recruitment process for Oracle on demand, one of the largest companies to visit our campus and me and my friends were all set to make it into this company. The test went well for most of us. Following this was a 5 day wait before the results were out and it was such a delight to have my name among the 66 selected students.

On the morning of September 18th we had a wonderful and encouraging pre-placement talk by the Oracle recruitment team. Soon after this, the interviews began. I fell in the last batch which meant that my interview would be taken pretty late. The waiting time was spent in revisions and puzzle solving to keep the nervousness at bay. Finally at 7 pm I was called in for my interview. It was a 15 minute Q&A session encompassing most of my academics which I believe I answered with confidence and clarity.

30 students were selected for the second round of interviews and I was one among them. The very next day I was one of the first few to be called in for my interview. This one consisted of a quick technical round which I was able to clear comfortably. By this time my confidence level had risen pretty high. I was then called in for my HR round, which was quite a pleasant and comforting discussion.

In the evening came the results. All of us listened with our fingers crossed as 16 names were called out. What an awesome feeling it was to hear not just mine but also my friends names being read out. Nothing could hold me from jumping around with joy. Congratulations and good wishes followed.

That awesome feel is still there and it will take a while for this feeling to subside. Looking forward to some great times at Oracle.

Good Times by Ila Bhide

At first, I was really thrilled at the thought of Oracle arriving at our institution for Placement drive. We had to answer an online test on Saturday, September 13 2014 and it involved Analytical and Technical questions. Next on September 17 Wednesday, a list of 66 students was declared as eligible to the interview segment. I was ecstatic to find my name in it and rushed home to share it with my Parents.

The next day, we were welcomed by the exciting team of Oracle and I was amazed by the clarity of the Pre placement talk.

Soon, all the 66 of us were rushed to the placement hall and the grinding task of First Technical Interview was on wheels.

It was a daunting experience to wait for the interview...
