Dealing With Things, One Thing at a Time by Vaibhav Gupta!!

There’s a lot to be said about the work we choose to do, and the work we want to do. Three years ago, when I graduated from high school, I chose to start a personal blog. The original reasons escape me, but I believe it had something to do with expanding my horizons and engaging in meaningful, satisfying projects. When I am at my blunt best, one of my favourite life theories is to view your own timeline as a series of projects. I believe people do something similar with what are referred to as “phases”, but I prefer the term project because it indicates the need and passion to get involved and do work yourself.

Back to the personal blog, my very first post was a simple summary of where I thought I stood, and I indicated a feeling of being lost when I realised that I was not on vacation, but was unemployed. At the time, school was all I had known, and there is a limbo between graduating from school and getting accepted to a college. Thankfully, I did not go through a similar experience recently, because the collegiate system allows us to sit for placements and get accepted into a company (hopefully of choice) well before graduating, and I did with Oracle...

The incredible story of Bharti and Bhawna Jain!!!

We were born on 18th Dec 1990 and our family members were thrilled to know about our birth. Our parents accepted us as a great gift from God! They celebrated all our birthdays and make our life full of fun with their perfect guidance and care. Together, we could study well and learnt playing synthesizer, swimming, synchronized dancing and car driving. I was school topper in 10th class while Bhawna was school topper in 12th class. Bhawna got gold medal at graduation level and I was at second position with difference of 0.01CGPA.We have always been together from childhood to graduation.

Then, we planned for post graduation. This time also, we wanted to be together, wanted to make it to same institute. You may not believe that Bhawna with AIR GATE rank 160 couldn't get admission in IIT Kharagpur. My AIR GATE rank was 375. I got admission in IIT Kharagpur in first list with first choice.

 Bhawna did much better in her interview at IIT Delhi and got admission in M Tech...

When placement season begun in December 2013, again our heart-beats raised, we wanted to get back together. I was happy to be selected in Oracle during campus recruitment drive at IIT Kharagpur.

Working is challenging here and everyday is a fruitful day by Ang Sun !!!

We had to familiarize ourselves with many Line of Business (LoBs) and the huge product portfolio. After that, we went on our first business trip to Beijing for another 2-week training. It was definitely one of the highlights in the whole Program. I had the opportunity to meet new friends from different cities in China - Beijing, Chengdu, Shenyang. It was such a valuable experience to work with different colleagues with various backgrounds. We had to complete assignments and projects from time to time. And all requires teamwork. We were emphasized to work as a team. 2014, make it your year By PhillipYi !!!

10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2….1! Happy New Year! As I counted down to the new year, many thoughts and images raced through my head – the absolute roller coaster ride that was 2013, the significant highs and the deepest lows, the fondest memories and those that I wanted to erase. Then as the new year drew closer and closer, much like everyone else I thought about my new years resolutions.

1. “I can accept failure, but I can’t accept not trying”. If you have an idea, a new approach, an innovation – do it, try it out. It is always better to have tried and failed, then to have not tried at all. You will never know if something will work, if it will be successful, or if it will ultimately change and shape the way you work until you have tried.

2. Finish everything that I start. Whether it be a book, self learning, picking up a new sport/hobby, any new project – to just stick with it, give it my all and see it through till the end.

3. Embrace change. In 2013, too many times have I found myself resistant to change. Always stuck in my comfort zones and not wanting to move at the worlds pace. The world is so dynamic, constantly changing – this change has to be embraced to break up routine, continue to challenge yourself and to continue to move forward.

4. Prioritise ‘me’ as number 1. Selfish as it may sound, you need to put your interests above anyone else’s. You need to let go of anything that may be holding you back, dragging you down and to ensure that whatever you do, you, yourself can gain from.

5. Positiveness. Always something that I have needed to work on – always seeing the glass as half full. I’ve trained myself to always see the negative so that if the outcome is not the desired outcome, at least you have set yourself up for disappointment and have managed expectations...

From An Oracle Graduate Trainee !!!

As a finance majored student, in the past few years, I knew little information about the IT industry. For me Oracle only means a NASDAQ listed company with reasonable revenue and share price, maybe also with an excellent gain potential. When I was a member of Oracle for only few weeks I got the whole picture and that is not only what professionalism means by but also orientation, responsibility, attitude, competency,love and enthusiasm. It is not only a work or a task but also a kind of lifestyle. After four weeks training I cannot express that I am really an Oracler but I have to say that I am ready to start forming myself a qualified Oracle employee.  What I got here cannot be measured by welfare or financial benefits. It is about my life and my spirit. If I am looking for a job providing comfortable life, actually Oracle could not be a good choice. Fortunately, I am seeking for something which could make me smart and professional, so Oracle fit me better than any others. Although I am still a beginner in Oracle, I am looking forward to see what I could be five years later.

Working with Oracle Finance in India by Merlin :)

Hi All! My name is Merlin. I’ve been working for Oracle for the past two months and it’s been a great journey here. This is my first and the best job I could ever imagine. And I want to share my views and experience at Oracle. The interview process was done in an effective and systematic manner. The interviewer made me feel very comfortable and the interview was conducted in a friendly manner which built more confidence and made me comfortable to proceed with further discussions. The recruiter at Oracle was a great support, helping me get through the interview by updating the interview process and schedules at the right time giving all possible updates until I was a full-fledged employee at Oracle.I joined Oracle on 23rd September 2013 as a fresher. The induction process was conducted in an interactive way briefing about the entire organization, its people, processes and policies. The people at Oracle were very welcoming. I love the working environment. People here are fun to be with and they help me out in all possible ways to approach to the solutions. It helped me build up a strong relationship with the co-workers and broaden my views towards working. I learnt a lot of new things interesting and fun. It helped me develop my professional skills towards work process and I was taught to work as a team, which helped me strengthen my confidence towards work. Initially I was hesitant to step into the working environment but now I’m proud to say that I’m an employee working at Oracle. As the festive season approaches, most businesses start to wind down and prepare for shutdown over the Christmas and New Years break. For most employees also, it is a quieter period and look to close off important things before the years end and start to plan for the new year.

Whilst this is the norm for businesses and those that have joined the work force, for students that have finished their tertiary education and looking to graduate at year’s end, it is a time that is both festive and somewhat stressful.

Being involved in campus recruitment for Oracle, for the best part of the last 2 years across the ANZ, ASEAN and KR region – it is evident that the majority of the student population will finish their studies at year’s end, with the graduation ceremony to follow early in the new year. TOP 500 Company Career Consulting Event - Peking University by Camilla Wu

On November 8th,the China Campus team joined the “TOP 500 Company Career Consulting Event”which was conducted by the Peking University Career Center, there are 10 Multinational Companies who attended the meeting, 300 top students had the opportunity to talk directly to Recruiters during the meeting.

During the meeting, each company had a table, and could put the poster and brochures and just like a job fair students could talk directly to the recruiters and recruiters could also did the first round of interview with the targeted students during the session. There was nearly 150-200 students who asked questions about Oracle FY14 campus hire. I hope we could select some outstanding candidates during this session and I also hope the bridge between Peking University and Oracle will be better and better.
