This American Life -- on TV!
By mduigou on Mar 23, 2007
While I get dressed for work and eat my breakfast I normally watch The Daily Show and/or The Colbert Report. It takes me only 25 minutes or so to get ready in the morning and I'm usually anxious to get to my desk so often times I'll watch only part of each episode and frequently save the interview portion of both to watch at lunch time. Sometimes I will watch an entire single episiode if I am interested in the guest. Last night I noticed that there was a new PENN & TELLER: BULLSHIT! episode. This is the first episode of the new fifth season. Excellent! Though I haven't agreed with every position that Bullshit has taken I have generally found that at a minimum the show always asks good questions and questions common "wisdom". Following the show was a promo for the new TV version of "This American Life". I had seen a reference to the show a few days ago on Boing Boing, but hadn't felt compelled to seek it out. On a whim I set the PVR to record This American Life. This morning I watched the episode rather than my usual Colbert and Daily Show. I am very pleased to say that I really, really, really enjoyed the episode. I found the episode very moving and "real", just as with the best episodes of the radio version of This American Life". I hope that they keep the number of episodes per season quite low in order to keep the quality high.
