Hickory or Mesquite -- Delicious Either Way!

I'll be on vacation for the next nine days and as usual I'm taking the opportunity to do some extreme cooking. Also as usual, my aspirations are also exceeding the time available. I think I have about 20 meals worth of food planned despite having only nine short days in which to partake.

My plans include (but not limited to), slow cooked prime rib over mesquite charcoal, grilled fresh Italian sausage, roast leg of lamb, a huge mess of oysters (raw and cooked), several tomato salads and bruschetta, a fruit tart, deep fried artichokes, dandelion and fava bean minestrone (this time it won't be bitter) and more oysters. If I have time I would like to make pollo mole negro again. Nothing beats homemade slow cooked mole.

The beverage theme for this holiday, it being July, is going to be sangria. I'm also hoping to prepare a batch of my mother's family recipe lemonade syrup.

Ah yes, it's going to be a good vacation....
