Indian Star Wins Corus ...

Wow!

In a great last round game, Vishy capitalized on a \*serious\* mistake by the Israeli GM Boris Gelfand and won the battle with a creative exchange of rook against bishop.

I must say that I did not expect this to happen for last round of a heavyweight tournament is usually quiet. Vishy though, was quick to respond to a mistake and punished Gelfand. With this fine victory, Vishy Anand is all set to pass the 2800 mark in Elo Rating.

Corus update: Last Round Tomorrow

Topalov is all set for a victory. Fine play by the Bulgarian. Indian start Vishy Anand has to be satisfied as a runner-up. The two stongest players in the field lived up to their reputation.

Topa's game against Aronian is already being adjudged as the game of the year!

Corus Chess Tournament ...

This is one of the finest tournaments in the world of chess. The FIDE world champion Vaselin Topalov and former FIDE world champion Vishy Anand are battling it out in this super GM tournament. It is a feast to watch the games. Both of them are at 6.5/9 with 5 wins, 3 draws and a loss.

Round 12 (when the two clash with each other) is when it will get more exciting. The build-up for that game is great. I am feeling like being at the dutch village of Wijk Aan Zee.
