Oracle to Participate in the Blockchain Connect Conference for Academics

Mary Hall
Director, Oracle Blockchain Product Marketing

As blockchain technology continues to grow in popularity, it's only natural that more people are seeking training and education about this tech topic. The Blockchain Connect Conference, happening Jan. 11, 2019, in San Francisco, aims to provide education around digital ledger technology (DLT) from leading academics and technologists. This is the third year for the conference, hosted by SV Insight.

Events like Blockchain Connect Conference are a necessity as the skills shortage around blockchain/ DLT technology continues to widen. There simply aren't enough trained, skilled workers available to fill both the technology and business jobs that are growing in this area.  Knowledge about blockchain is now one of the top skills employers are searching for in candidate resumes.

Recent research from Coinbase reveals that 42% of the top 50 universities in the world have opened at least one blockchain-related course. In the US, Stanford University and Cornell University have each opened more than eight courses. In Australia, there is now an Australian Institute Blockchain Collective offering coursework to complete an  ‘Advanced Diploma of Applied Blockchain.’ Australian RMIT University now offers a course on open source & blockchain.

If you're looking to learn a bit more about blockchain, but don't have the resources or time to attend a University, then the Blockchain Connect Conference offers an opportunity to learn about this exciting area of technology in a one-day series of lectures. In order to appeal to a variety of interests, the conference is divided into two tracks: an academic track and a business track.

Highlights of next week's Blockchain Connect Conference include a keynote from noted UC Berkley Professor Dawn Song on preserving privacy in the smart contract process, sessions on the future of cryptocurrency & the "token economy" as well as blockchain use cases and demos.

Mark Rakhmilevich,Senior Director of Blockchain Product Management at Oracle will be at the conference to join a panel on "Public Services, Healthcare and other Blockchain Integrations,"  You can receive a 25% discount on tickets by applying the code: MarkR25off at checkout when you register for the conference on the Blockchain Connect website.
