Now you can watch your favourate movie and listen to songs. Life With Solaris has really given the life to OpenSolaris
VLC and many other media players are now supported on OpenSolaris.....
Just look out for the site: http://lifewithsolaris.jp/modules/packages
To get the packages on the new Image Packaging System, you need to follow some simple steps:
Add a new authority
You can add a new authority by running below command. Flag “-O” means using URL to identify the repository. Last word “sunfreeware” will be as the name of this authority. You should have root rights to run this command, or you can use “pfexec” prefix. “pfexec” is similar as “sudo” in Linux
pkg set-authority -O http://pkg.lifewithsolaris.jp:10000/ lifewithsolaris (You need to be root for this)
Now you can install the packages either graphically or using the "pfexec pkg install <package-name>"
Solaris Nevada (SXDE)
All packages are available at http://lifewithsolaris.jp/uploads/pkg/5.11/i386/.
Since there are many package dependencies, we recommend to use LWSpkg-admin (simple perl script) to install packages.
# pkgadd -G -d http://lifewithsolaris.jp/uploads/pkg/LWSpkg-admin-0.1.pkg
Now, pkg-admin is installed at /opt/LWS/bin.
