I'm in Cambridge (MA), attending Calconnect Roundtable X. This is my first participation and I'm very pleased with the quality of the discussions. It is also pretty cool to get to meet some of the people I've been interacting with via email.
The list of Calconnect members can be found here. A lot of them were represented.
On the vendor side, there is a very good mix of client/server/mobile/added services companies.Only missing are representatives from mobile carriers (AT&T, Vodaphone, Orange,...). This has been brought has an issue on several occasion during the Roundtable as the carriers are the one driving the requirements of mobiles vendors, including when it comes to calendaring (most phone are still stuck with the old vCalendar standard).
Customers (i.e. calendar application consumers) are mainly represented by Universities (only US Universities unfortunately). Even if this gives us only a partial perspective on our customers needs, their active participation in all the discussions is invaluable.
Next Roundtable will be hosted by Sun, in Santa Clara. Good news for me as there is not much hope that the event will be hosted in Europe any time soon. At least I should be able to spend some time with my colleagues while also attending Calconnect, all in just one trip.
