Thought for the Day

"At some point you have to decide whether you're going to be a politician or an engineer. You cannot be both. To be a politician is to champion perception over reality. To be an engineer is to make perception subservient to reality. They are opposites. You can't do both simultaneously. "

SOA Made Simple - Author Interview

Regular readers of this blog, or the Architect Community column in Oracle Magazine, or listeners to the OTN ArchBeat Podcast may recognize the names Lonneke Dikmans and Ronald van Luttikhuizen. Managing partners at Vennster, Lonneke and Ronald are Oracle ACE Directors with formidable skills as specialists in SOA and Middleware, but I can't remember a time either has declined a request to lend their knowledge as a podcast panelist or as source for an article. Despite having the kind of hectic schedules you might expect for such talented IT pros, Lonneke and Ronald managed to find the time to write a book, SOA Made Simple, published in December 2012 by Packt Publishing.

Yesterday I had a chance to connect via video for a short chat with Lonneke and Ronald to ask them about their new book:
