Multi-Tenancy and Other Useless Discussions

Meg Bear, Vice President, Oracle Cloud Social Platform, knows that there are very strong opinions out there about multi-tenancy. She acknowledges that smart people with years of experience come down on both sides of the issue. However, Meg holds the opinion that the whole multi-tenancy conversation is missing the point. See if you agree.

Mobile HCM: It’s not the future, it is right now

According to Steve Boese, Director Product Strategy, Oracle, the question for the Human Resources leader is no longer, ‘Should HR explore ways to exploit mobile devices and their always-on nature to better support and empower the modern workforce?’, but rather ‘How can HR best take advantage of smartphone and tablet capability to provide information, enable transactions, and enhance decision making?’.  Read Steve's blog to discover more about the "How".[Read More]

The “Customer” Experience Revolution is Here

The Experience Revolution is here, and we are going to explore and celebrate our new customer experience ventures and strategy in an extraordinary way. In true Oracle fashion, we are hosting an exceptional event, bringing together customer experience advocates, visionaries and practitioners to discover and define Oracle’s Customer Experience vision.

The Experience Revolution is best described as today’s era of the empowered consumer. For those of us who work with customers on a daily basis, we know that the modern consumer demands fast, accurate, consistent information across all communication channels. And if they don’t like the services received can easily take to social channels to voice disapproval. For this reason, organizations today operate in an environment where traditional methods of differentiation are less effective and customer experience has become the primary driver of business value.

The Healthy Tension That Mobility Creates

In my previous post, I talked about the value of the mobile revolution on businesses and workers. Now let me put on a different hat and view the world from the IT department and the IT leader’s viewpoint. The IT leader has different concerns – around privacy, potential liability of information leakage, and intellectual property protection. These concerns and the leader’s goals create a healthy tension with the users.[Read More]

Seizing the Moment with Mobility

Mobile devices are forcing a paradigm shift in the workplace – they’re changing the way businesses can do business and the type of cultures they can nurture. As our customers talk about their mobile needs, we hear them saying they want instant-on access to enterprise data so workers can be more effective at their jobs anywhere, anytime. They also are interested in being more cost effective from an IT point of view.[Read More]

The Future of Project Management is Social

Rapid Ascent. Breakneck Speed. Lightning Fast. Perhaps even overwhelming. No matter which set of adjectives we use to describe it, social media’s rise into the enterprise mainstream has been unprecedented. Indeed, the big 4 social media powerhouses (Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, and Twitter), have nearly 2 Billion users between them. You may be asking (as you should really) “That’s all well and good for the consumer, but for me at my company, what’s your point? Beyond the fact that I can check and post updates, that is.”

I’ll dovetail this discussion to the project management realm, since that’s what I’m writing about. Speed is a big challenge for project-driven organizations. Anything that can help speed up project delivery - be it a new product introduction effort or a geographical expansion project - fast is a good thing. So where does this whole social thing fit particularly since there are already a host of tools to help with traditional project execution?

Embracing Mobile

Isn’t it amazing how much mobility and mobile technologies have evolved since the days Palm bought Handspring. That was back in 2003. Today, it’s hard to imagine running our business or personal lives without the capabilities and conveniences of a mobile device. Our mobile ‘friends’ have become a way of life – and we expect a lot from them, as do our customers. It is not enough to simply display a traditional ERP application on a smartphone or a tablet. Customers expect and want more.[Read More]

What Happens in Vegas, Doesn't Always Have to Stay in Vegas

Sorry I don't have anything steamy to report from my trip to Las Vegas for Collaborate 2012 last week. But there was plenty happening – 6,000 people and lots of Fusion buzz. The flash mob during Mark Sunday's keynote was something to see. It descended on the audience wearing red Fusion t-shirts whooping and hollering, passing out Fusion buzz cards and giving away coveted Fusion swag. I loved hearing people trade Fusion stories and watch them pack the Fusion sessions.[Read More]
