"It’s All About People,” says Larry Ellison at San Francisco CloudWorld

Larry Ellison delighted the audience at CloudWorld in San Francisco with an unexpected appearance to talk about How HR Leaders are Embracing the Cloud. We’ve pulled out a few of the more quotable responses to questions from the audience, such as, “Why did you choose to talk only about HCM?” Who is Oracle's competition?” “Is Oracle early or late to the cloud?” “Does the cloud make Oracle more applicable to more companies?” Ellison was entertaining and provocative, as always.

How One Savvy Leader Used Oracle Solutions To Transform An Organization

“A change program not a technology project.” That was one of the twelve principles that Sandy Begbie’s team used to transform Standard Life into a customer serving organization. There were sizable challenges and ingenious solutions. Influencer David Essex from Search Financials Applications interviewed Begbie about the company’s turnaround and its dependence on Oracle solutions. Begbie loves the modern look and feel of the Oracle HCM Cloud and “projects that the Oracle investment could have an internal rate of return as high as 30 percent over five years, in part from reduced HR labor and IT costs."

You will here similar success stories at Oracle HCM World, February 4-6 in Las Vegas.

Nucleus Research Names Three Oracle Product Lines in the ERP Leader Category

Nucleus Research recently released its 2013 first half Technology Value Matrix for ERP. A Guest Post by Esteban Kolsky, industry influencer (pictured left)

With all the talk about Customer Experience, it seems that every company should be implementing a CX initiative. But Esteban Kolsky, industry influencer, says there are five readiness factors to consider: people, process, technology, measurement, and governance. In this post, he walks us through how to determine if an organization’s people are ready for a CX initiative. Who's in Charge of the Customer Experience?

A Guest Post by Esteban Kolsky, industry influencer (pictured left)

In the past 20-25 years we have moved away from company-driven interactions where the company determined what happened each time a customer contacted it. Now we are entering the era of customer-driven communications where the customers tell companies what they want, when, and why. The shift is happening mostly due to the availability of communications channels, which customers use to share their knowledge and power. In this post, Esteban Kolsky, industry influencer, (pictured left) explores how customers gained this powerful control and what this pendulum swing means to organizations.

The Hidden Powers of Social Customer Service

Job #1: Making Cloud Customers Successful

It’s expected that the first priority for a sales organization would be the customers’ success. We find it particularly refreshing to hear the same priority holds for a development organization. Oracle Apps Development EVP Steve Miranda makes it clear, in this interview with Profit, that across the cloud-based apps, our primary focus is “making sure our early customers are successful.”

And he urges our existing customers on Oracle’s EBS, Siebel, PeopleSoft and JD Edwards to take the product upgrades that provide better user interface, more mobile capabilities, BI, and more. He also recommends they take a baby step into the cloud by deploying an application in a particular area of interest or need to get a big payoff with little disruption.

What Happens in Vegas, Doesn't Always Have to Stay in Vegas

Sorry I don't have anything steamy to report from my trip to Las Vegas for Collaborate 2012 last week. But there was plenty happening – 6,000 people and lots of Fusion buzz. The flash mob during Mark Sunday's keynote was something to see. It descended on the audience wearing red Fusion t-shirts whooping and hollering, passing out Fusion buzz cards and giving away coveted Fusion swag. I loved hearing people trade Fusion stories and watch them pack the Fusion sessions.[Read More]
