Virtual Tradeshow? How Does That Work?

On Thursday, February 3rd the Oracle Applications Virtual Tradeshow: Spotlight on Customer Success is being delivered directly to desktops around the world. Outside of Oracle OpenWorld 2010 in San Francisco it looks to be the broadest offering of Oracle Applications information in one place until Oracle OpenWorld 2011.

What is a Virtual Tradeshow?

If you have attended an Oracle virtual tradeshow before then you're 99% of the way there. Just review the sessions you want to attend in the virtual brochure and register now.

If you're wondering how it works, what you need to do and what you can expect then read on.

What Does "Virtual Tradeshow" Mean?

We're bringing the best of a tradeshow or conference experience and putting it on the Web. You'll hear from Oracle strategy and development executives, customers who have made the decisions and executed the projects you're considering now.

You can even browse an online exhibition hall, "chat" with your peers and Oracle executives and pick up informational collateral to review later on. But you don't have to get your travel approved, go to the airport, deal with hotel food, jet lag, etc.

How Does It Work?

Just like any industry conference your virtual experience will start in the lobby or foyer of the show. You'll have the choice to enter sessions, select sessions from different tracks, exit a session and browse the exposition hall and even network with peers and Oracle experts in live chat sessions.

Isn't This Just a Sales Pitch?

Enterprise software is complex stuff. The goal of the virtual tradeshow is to educate and share. Educate those with Oracle Applications implementations or those considering Oracle Applications on their choices and share real-life experiences.

Those real-life experiences come not only from those who build the products but customers who can share their challenges, the choices they made and how they got from point A to point B.

What if the Timing Doesn't Work for Me?

The event starts at 8am Pacific on Thursday, February 3rd. Regardless of your situation or time zone we recommend that you register and attend as much of the conference as you can. Even if your time zone prohibits participation--if you register Oracle may consider running the show for other geographies or during different times.

How Do I Know if This Event is Right for Me?

If your role entails running, using, understanding or evaluating Oracle Applications then this is the place for you.

What Topics Are Being Covered?

Check out my earlier blog for an overview of the show and key executives at the show or review the virtual brochure to see the entire lineup. Another way to look at it is to consider the dedicated tracks covering the following topics:

Will Oracle Fusion Applications Be Covered?

Yes. Apparently all of the industry pundits who made predictions that Oracle will continue to discuss Oracle Applications in their 2011 predictions were right. As you can see above, there's a track dedicated to Fusion Applications. Sessions range from an overview of the Oracle Fusion Applications strategy to drill-down talks about each product family--from Oracle Fusion Customer Relationship Management or Financials to Human Capital Management and Supply Chain Management.

How Many Sessions Can I Attend?

As many as you want. In total there are 36 sessions. We've time-constrained each of them into 30-minute slots to maximize the value of your participation in the event. Shorter slots keep the speakers focused and enable you to cover more ground.

Is the Oracle Applications Virtual Tradeshow the Only Way to Get the Latest Information?

No. A host of options are available ranging from contacting your account manager to visiting oracle.com. And, if you're interested in attending a local event where you can speak live with Oracle experts you should check out the recently launched Charting Your Course with Oracle Applications world tour.

Check out the conference brochure and REGISTER TODAY. Bookmark the conference brochure or print it out to plan your experience. Oracle and the Oracle Applications Virtual Tradeshow sponsors hope to see you there.
