OSB Error executing synchronization task: Where to look

This one is really short but important.

In case you work with OSB (Oracle Service Bus) and get this error message either in the OEPE (eclipse) error panel or command line export utility:

Error executing synchronization task

then you better look at the .metadata/.log file that's created under the eclipse workspace. That file would have much more valuable info about the error and you could fix it quickly. AdminServer log and osb_server log would also have info that you can utilize.

Some of the common errors are like:

  1. Project referenced in OSB config project does not exist in workspace/cannot be referenced
  2. Dependent transport is not available/registered in case you are deploying custom transport.
  3. etc.
Hope it helps.

Increase JVM heap space for wlst

Not always, but sometimes, you might find a Java OutOfMemoryException while deploying any artifact through wlst deploy method.

The chances for this error to occur increases as you use bigger size of artifact (jar/war/ear etc.).

 One quick fix is to open the wlst.sh file and add a set of JVM memory args to increase the available heap size.

 Quick example(yours may be a bit different)

MEM_ARGS="-Xms128m -Xmx512m -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m

JVM_ARGS="-Dprod.props.file='${WL_HOME}'/.product.properties ${WLST_PROPERTIES} ${JVM_D64} ${MEM_ARGS} ${CONFIG_JVM_ARGS}"

eval '"${JAVA_HOME}/bin/java"' ${JVM_ARGS} weblogic.WLST '"$@"'

And you're good to go. It might just come handy.
