Using SOA Suite 11g and want to connect to an AS/400?

im currently working with client in the automotive industry and one of the things they want to do is extract/poll for data from a IBM AS/400.. Now it sounds difficult but thankfully its quite easy, Oracles Database Adaptor certaintly supports AS/400 and the Db/2 database.

The only thing you need to provide is a JDBC driver for the AS/400 DB2 luckly IBM provide an opensource driver (jt400) which can be downloaded from http://sourceforge.net/projects/jt400.

Here are some doc links:

For some reason, the current download of SOA Suit 11g removed ability for third party drivers.

Even this one, as we are in the same boat as you. Placed driver in proper location, added to class path. Shows in path on start up. However, the driver is not available in the drop down in the JDBC section of the admin website.

Thanks for this post Angelo - they were just the pointers I needed.

@Shannara: you select type "Other" and use com.ibm.as400.access.AS400JDBCDriver as the driver class. After you've created it you also need to set Properties to user=yourusername before you try to Activate (as the wizard seems to lose the username - that was from an OTN forum)
