Oracle Augments Gartner BI Bake Off

Michael Singer
Director, Product Marketing, Oracle Analytics

For the last four years, Gartner Research vice president Cindi Howson has conducted the Gartner BI (Business Intelligence) Bake Off in association with the Gartner Data & Analytics Summit.

The Bake Off focuses on public data sets, selected by Gartner, which cover a broad range of topical societal concerns, such as the opioid crisis (the focus in 2018) and battling traffic fatalities (in 2017). This year, the 2019 BI Bake Off is focused on loneliness, happiness, and social isolation, with data provided by the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Gartner Consumer Values Survey.

Loneliness and social isolation have long been identified as world health issues. One in five Americans say they always or often feel lonely or socially isolated, including many whose health, relationships and work suffers as a result, according to a 2018 joint survey by Kaiser and The Economist. Looking deep into the data could help doctors, caregivers, policy makers, and even businesses the insight they need to identify which groups are most at risk and how to serve the needs of those seeking connections.

Using the Gartner-provided dataset, Oracle submitted a 2019 BI Bake Off demo to show the rich capabilities and features of Oracle Analytics. Our showstopper demo showcases powerful features for augmented data preparation and enrichment, augmented driver-based analytics, natural language query and generation, Slack integration, and mobile innovation.

Take a look at the following screen shots. Business users, IT administrators, and data scientists require faster insights with improved decisions, and next-generation analysis. Oracle Analytics has more capabilities than programs that rely on static spreadsheet data. Oracle also outperforms desktop analytics products that struggle to scale.

With Oracle Analytics Cloud, you can easily create data visualizations with automated chart recommendations and optimize insights by collaborating with colleagues

Uncover deeper patterns and predict trends using data visualizations and augmented analytics with embedded machine learning throughout the platform.

The Explain feature evaluates data trends and converts it into a narrative that can be easily understood.
