This document: "Step by Step RAC 10g R2 Install on Linux RH 3 EL, 3 node test and training environment" was compiled sometime ago. Still DBA's on my group are using it as a reference.

It contains detailed information and is a good first step for people new to RAC, as it cover all the aspects of the install. OS, Storage and DBA tasks are covered in detail.

The purpose of the document was to provide a hands on knowledge of all the tasks related to RAC implementation.

Tasks related to RAC implementation are divided between OS, Storage and DBA's; but is usually the DBA group the one that leads the implementation. That's why we provided an environment where they were able to try almost all the install steps by themselves; this way they knew better what to ask for to OS and Storage teams on production installs.

To implement the training sessions we used a 3 Node Linux 3 on Vmware, connected to 50GB of shared storage.

We had rounds of create and destroy sessions. Today the environment serve the purpose of crash and burn test environment.
