Oracle Open World 2012 Call For Papers

At Oracle OpenWorld, more than a thousand people demonstrate their mastery and expertise by leading sessions on a vast array of Oracle technologies and products.

Now’s the time to submit your AIA or OER success story presentation abstract for review by the selection panel.

Don’t delay—submit your abstract now as the Call for Papers is open through next Monday, April 9th.

The competition is strong: roughly 18% of entries are accepted each year from more than 3,000 submissions. Review panels are made up of experts both internal and external to Oracle. Successful submissions often (but not exclusively) focus on customer successes, how-tos, or technical topics.

What’s in it for you? Recognition, for one thing. Accepted sessions are publicized in the content catalog, which goes live in mid-June, and sessions given by external speakers often prove the most popular.

Plus, accepted speakers get a complimentary pass to Oracle OpenWorld with access to all sessions and networking events─that could save you up to $2,595!

Integrating with Oracle Fusion Applications: Discovering Integration Artifacts

Oracle Enterprise Repository serves as the core element to the Oracle SOA Governance solution.

An industry-leading metadata repository, Oracle Enterprise Repository provides a solid foundation for delivering governance throughout the service-oriented architecture (SOA) lifecycle by acting as the single source of truth for information surrounding SOA assets and their dependencies.

For Fusion Applications, the use of OER has been extended to include other integration asset types such as interface tables and other technical information such as data models, tables, views, lookups, profile options, et cetera. E-Business Suite users familiar with iRepository or eTRM will recognize the functionality in Fusion Applications OER.

Oracle Enterprise Repository for Fusion Applications provides a common catalog of technical information, searchable using many different mechanisms. Customers can locate technical information by the name, description or keyword of the information they are looking for. They can also search by the type of asset they are trying to locate and/or where the asset sits in the product taxonomy. They can also see the how the asset dances in the choreography of some illustrative co-existence scenarios. These scenarios are laid out as both functional flow diagrams as well as technical interaction diagrams.

Rajesh Raheja, software architect at Oracle, has recently posted an article on this topic: visibility and control are the key tenets to SOA governance, and the first step in integrating with Oracle Fusion Applications is to find out what are the integration options available. Oracle Enterprise Repository, an industry-leading metadata repository, provides this visibility.

Foundation Pack XREF Migration Utility

The Foundation Pack XREF Migration Utility is a tool to perform a one-time migration of cross reference (XREF) data from the existing single XREF_DATA table to new multi-tables, which may yield performance benefits for customers with large XREF tables.

If you work with large XREF tables, splitting up the single XREF_DATA table into one table per XREF artifact improves cross reference lookup performance. The XREF Migration Utility updates the metadata in the XREF artifacts for this multi-table use case, as well as generates a set of scripts that create a new table for each artifact and migrate the corresponding XREF data to them.

For more information, please look at the "Foundation Pack XREF Migration Utility" page on Oracle Technology Network (OTN).

Foundation Pack Cluster Coach For 11g

The Foundation Pack Cluster Coach For 11g is a set of User Productivity Kit (UPK) demos that presents the concepts and showcases a two-node WebLogic cluster installation running Oracle SOA Suite and Foundation Pack.

It includes a list of UPKs to serve as a starting point to introduce the concepts and showcase a two-node WebLogic cluster running Oracle SOA Suite and Foundation Pack.

Throughout this session, viewers will learn about the available resources, and will see step-by-step how the cluster is implemented.

We create a basic cluster topology as a subset of the larger topology implemented in the "Enterprise Deployment Guide" in order to build a foundation for understanding.

After viewing this session, users should have more confidence as they approach the design and implementation of an enterprise topology with WebLogic cluster running SOA Suite and Foundation Pack.

For more information, please look at the "Foundation Pack Cluster Coach For 11g" page on Oracle Technology Network (OTN).
