Thousands Participate in Oracle Academy Virtual Student Day Latin America

Richard Delgado Cascante
Regional Director - Latin America

To provide education on the latest technology to Oracle Academy Institutional member school students, on March 16 and March 20, Oracle Academy hosted Oracle Academy Virtual Student Day, Latin America.

Over the course of four hours using a completely virtual, cloud-based platform, Oracle experts delivered sessions to the more than 2,200 online participants on topics ranging from the Oracle Autonomous Database, cybersecurity, Internet of Things, NonSQL databases, big data, and more.

For the first time, two separate sessions were held―one in Spanish and another in Portuguese―to encourage participation of all students across the region, and to maximize the knowledge transfer. The event received more than 4,000 registrations from students in Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Peru, and Costa Rica. Students were able to attend the sessions live or choose to access them later.

“The results of the event were amazing. The students are very motivated after their participation in the event and very excited to download their participation certificates from Oracle Academy. We appreciate what Oracle does to support training of more students, with the aim to help them get better job opportunities in the future,” says Jose Abreu, Computer Sciences Department Coordinator at Instituto Tecnico Superior Comunitario (ITSC), Dominican Republic, an Oracle Academy Institutional member.

The response from the students widely exceeded our expectations, and the student feedback around of content and format of the event was great. This success motivates the entire Oracle Academy team and our volunteer speakers to continue to deliver these types of events across the region.
