On July 11, 2023, the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) Thailand, in collaboration with leading international tech companies, hosted an “Industrial Based Skill Day” that brought together technology company experts, educators and learners, promoting academic programs focused on cybersecurity and certification preparation.

Over 500 participants, including university students, educators, IT professionals, and government staff, attended the event. It was broadcast live on virtual conference and social media platforms such as Zoom Webinar, YouTube, and Facebook Live, attracting an audience of over 1,700 views.

The event’s highlights included AVM Amorn Chomchey, NCSA Secretary-General, addressing the shortage of cybersecurity professionals and emphasizing the importance of certification for students. Participants gained valuable insights into entering the evolving field of technology and cybersecurity.

Dr. Phet Aimtongkham, Head of the Cybersecurity program at Khon Kaen University, discussed the development of cybersecurity curriculum and shared guidance on professional certification from agencies like Fortinet Security Network, Cisco Systems, Palo Alto Networks, Oracle Corporation, Amazon Web Services, and EC Council.

The event also featured presentations from tech companies on their academic programs. Oracle’s Chinnawat Khottassa highlighted the Oracle Academy program, its benefits, and the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Foundations I course, as well as free access to Oracle Cloud Free Tier through the Oracle Academy Cloud Program. The course and cloud access allows educators and students to learn about and get hands-on experience in network security, cloud computing, and OCI security services at no cost.

Given Thailand’s demand for cybersecurity personnel, educational institutions need resources, including software, cloud technology, and computer science courses, at various levels. Oracle Academy provides opportunities for educators and students to learn and have a pathway to earn valuable Oracle professional certifications, enhancing their knowledge and offering concrete proof of their skills for job prospects and career success in the technology and cybersecurity fields.
