Oracle Academy wins Gold Award for Edtech Leader of the Year at Kenya Edtech Summit and Awards

Oracle Academy was delighted to be awarded the Gold Award for Edtech Leader of the Year at the Kenya Edtech Summit and Awards in recognition of the Oracle Academy’s program’s innovation, user friendliness, functionality, and impact. Oracle’s leadership in emerging technologies and next generation cloud developments spur Oracle Academy’s innovation-focused curriculum, resources, technology, and events.

The Kenya EdTech Summit & Awards, which took place this year on August 27, 2021, is a premier leading annual professional development conference and awards presentation that focuses on technology integration strategies and digital tools to transform education to enrich learners' lives. The conference, organized by Chasing Mavericks, attracted over 500 registered attendees and was opened by Daniel Juma, Country Director, Global Peace Foundation, Kenya. Juma received the award on behalf of Oracle Academy.

Danny Gooris , Oracle Academy Senior Marketing Manager, EMEA, presented on ‘The Role of Oracle Academy in Promoting Teaching and Learning through Innovative Technology.' He detailed the benefits of Oracle Academy in relation to digital professional development of faculty and students, and the Oracle Academy Cloud Program – an always-free offering that was recently launched to the academic community.

Oracle Academy Program Manager Bekere Amassoma joined a panel session where she discussed how Oracle Academy is contributing to workforce trends and the future of learning. She encouraged interested teachers and students to take advantage of Oracle Academy’s free resources to upskill themselves in the latest technology with knowledge and hands-on practice.

More than 51 percent of Kenya's public and private universities and higher education institutions are currently members of Oracle Academy. This means their educators and students have access to Oracle Academy’s free computing and technology resources for teaching and learning, including curriculum, learning resources, Oracle Cloud technologies, Oracle APEX, and a wide range of software, support, and certification resources.

Oracle Academy also provides professional development opportunities for educational faculty and helps assist policy makers and other stakeholders in the education system bridge the gap between education and technology.
