Oracle Academy Tech Chat podcast episode 12 explores the concept of Machine Learning

What is machine learning? This is the question that Senior Manager Oracle Academy North America and podcast host Tyra Crockett poses to a machine learning expert, IT Convergence Director of AI and Machine Learning, Edelweiss Kammermann. 

To start, Edel focuses on the basics by providing a definition of machine learning and then explains the distinctions between machine learning and AI. She continues by clarifying how big data and machine learning work together and offers some real-world machine learning use cases. 

Edel gives Tyra insight about the skills required for students interested in pursuing a career in machine learning to be successful, and shares the commonly used programming languages that machine learning practitioners utilize. Finally, she provides insight as to why faculty should teach students about machine learning and how understanding machine learning helps prepare students entering the workforce for today’s economy.
