What is accessibility and why is it essential to software development? In this Tech Chat podcast episode, host Tyra Crockett, Senior Manager Oracle Academy North America, and Christopher Land, Oracle Senior ADA Program Manager, discuss these two questions.

Christopher begins with defining accessibility and speaks to how software accessibility makes it usable for people with disabilities. He talks about the different ways software can be adapted for different types of disabilities and the importance of inclusive thinking during software design.

Christopher supplies examples of ways software can be designed to be accessible including through: color selection, adaptive controls, captioning, and screen readers. Finally, he provides information about the laws that govern accessibility in the United States and the rules which create specifications for HTML and CSS standards.
