“The role of cloud computing in the evolution of artificial intelligence – cloud-powered intelligence” event, led by Alexandru Neagu, Senior Oracle Cloud Engineering Manager, took place on February 29, 2024. The event targeted Romanian university faculty who are Oracle Academy members.

The last few years have marked unprecedented progress in the field of artificial intelligence and a democratization of technology, a popularity that will continue to grow and will significantly change the way companies carry out their activities, regardless of the industry. Through this online event, Alexandru reviewed the trends, opportunities and challenges we face in the adoption of artificial intelligence.

Topics included:

  • The state of AI
  • What GenAI is and is not
  • Prompt engineering – how we use it
  • The role of cloud computing

“The progress we've recently witnessed in the AI space, especially in the LLM (Large Language Models) field, is unprecedented. As this continues, we expect a real impact on the way companies operate, which will bring both challenges and opportunities for those prepared to tackle them. One fundamental aspect of AI is its reliance on cloud computing. There is such a strong synergy between the two that I predict cloud skills will be, if not already are, a prerequisite in the AI field, spanning from data engineering to MLOps and research. We have taken the time to explore the skills that engineers of tomorrow need to possess and how Oracle, through its learning paths, together with partner universities, is enabling them to prepare for the new AI-enabled era,” said Alexandru.

We want to say, “thank you!” to all participants at this online event — 27 university faculty from 15 universities, all of whom are Oracle Academy members. And we thank our colleague Alexandru Neagu for his continued support to spread awareness of cloud.
