Oracle Academy in Saudi Arabia is building strong relationships with academia to enable young students who wish to develop a career in the technology sector, to align with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

A recent event and a great example of collaboration was with the Princess Norah in Abdulrahman University, where Oracle Academy enabled more than 800 national female students to study Oracle Database using our online curriculum.

“In collaboration with Oracle Academy, we proudly have taught more than 800 students with the Oracle Academy Database Foundations course. The course is aligned with one of the college’s introductory database courses. Our goal is to upskill our female professionals, expand their capabilities, and bridge the gap between academia and industry,” said Dr. Hanan Al Mengash, dean of the Computer and Information Sciences College at the university.

This initial step was followed by further collaboration when a special speaker from Oracle headquarters, Heather VanCura, Group Director, visited Saudi Arabia for the first time to meet with the new generation of developers and innovators, with a focus on females. The dean invited Heather to hear from the university’s staff and students on computer and information sciences programs.

Heather’s support is much appreciated, especially in relation to the upcoming launch of the PNU Women’s initiative, which plans to host her as a guest speaker to empower women and encourage them to peruse their aspirations either in academic or professional fields.

Heather also supports the Oracle Academy program, Oracle Women Leadership (OWL), and Java communities across the globe.

Oracle Academy looks forward to continuing to work on this important collaboration with the university.
