Oracle Academy holds Knowledge Builder Session on AI Digital Assistants - SSA

On August 31, 2021, Ifesoji Akinwolemiwa, Oracle Specialist Cloud Engineer, and Bekere Amassoma, Oracle Academy Program Manager, held a virtual Knowledge Builder session on AI Digital Assistants. The event was part of the local Oracle Academy Knowledge Builder series themed, Introducing AI Digital Assistants: Innovative Pathway to Conversational Technology.

To more than 110 Oracle Academy faculty members registered from across Sub-Saharan Africa, Akinwolemiwa detailed why conversational experiences matter, provided demonstrations and use cases, and discussed how to get started and Oracle Digital Assistants.

He shared interesting research about conversational technology. According to Gartner’s Top Technology and Trends Driving the Digital Workspace, 2019: “By 2022, 70 percent of white collar workers will interact with conversational platforms on a daily basis.” He also discussed the importance of conversational AI and the difference between chatbots and digital assistants. In the course of this captivating discussion, he talked about Oracle Digital Assistant and how it can be integrated into already existing applications.

An engaging question and answer session followed the presentation and some participants shared their feedback.

Peter Ekpeyong, an educator from University of Uyo, Nigeria, said:

“The webinar on Introducing AI Digital Assistants: Innovative Pathway to Conversational Technology, was very impactful and an innovation by Oracle in AI technology. Many students are already interested in researching into this novel area of AI and the webinar was a good introduction to the technologies available from Oracle. The Oracle Academy courses in AI will have a practical application that demonstrate its application. I commend the facilitator for his presentation.”

Mr. O.O. Odejayi from Kola Daisi University, Ibadan, had this to say about the webinar:

“The Oracle Academy webinar has further demystified the technical intricacies of chatbots as an example of an AI digital assistant, which no doubt is an innovative pathway to conversational technology. This instant response AI-powered technology should be embedded into all dynamic websites. The webinar will positively impact my teaching as it will form a guide to our research study and be a take-home assignment for our students to register for the Oracle Cloud account so they can see the implementation of this AI-powered digital assistant.”
