Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) leads cloud computing with a deep and broad platform of cloud services that enables customers to build and run a wide range of applications in a scalable, secure, highly available and high-performance environment.

Aligned with Oracle’s focus on and leadership in the cloud, our new Oracle Academy Cloud Infrastructure Foundations I curriculum helps students build foundational knowledge of cloud computing. The new offering focuses on OCI concepts and terminology through lesson slides, corresponding videos and demonstrations, hands-on labs, and midterm and final exams. Throughout the course, learners gain an understanding of the core infrastructure of cloud, how it works with databases, and information on security, administration, monitoring, and management. The four areas of focus are ‘Core Infrastructure’, ‘Database’, ‘Solutions, Platform and Edge’, and ‘Governance and Administration.’

The course is well suited for:

  • Higher education students who wish to gain a foundational knowledge of OCI and have a basic understanding of computing and networking, including IP addressing, virtual machine and database uses. It’s helpful if they have previous experience with either database or programming fundamentals and knowledge of networking devices including gateways.

  • Students interested in architecture, operations or development roles in IT

This curriculum currently is available in English only. The recommended total course time is 90 hours*. Educators who complete Oracle Academy training receive 30 professional education credit hours.

Teach and learn in the cloud ― free

Before offering this course, we strongly recommend that institutions sign up for the Oracle Academy Cloud Program to provide higher education students with free cloud access. Through the program, to gain deeper hands-on experience and skills, students have access to Oracle Cloud Free Tier, a comprehensive, standards-based combination of Oracle and open source technologies that enable users to efficiently build, deploy, integrate, secure, and manage enterprise applications. With this free cloud access, educators and students can teach, learn, explore, build, and develop in the cloud, free of charges. Plus, educators enjoy one-time classroom setup with no maintenance, patches, or on-premises software needed.

Member educators and their students can access always-free Oracle Autonomous Database, Compute Virtual Machines (VM), object storage, data egress, and other essential building blocks needed to create applications on top of Oracle Autonomous Databases.

Students must be the age of legal majority in their country of residence to access a cloud account.

With this free cloud access plus the new cloud curriculum, students will be able to build core foundational knowledge of and hands-on skills in cloud computing to start them on the pathway to further exploration and career success.

*Course time includes instruction, self-study, videos and assessment
