Dian Nuswantoro University (Udinus) recently hosted a conference for the Indonesian Association of Higher Education Informatics and Computers (APTIKOM) in Semarang City, Central Java. The event was attended by more than 300 tertiary institutions that have computational study programs, both private and public, from all over Indonesia, and was opened by Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo.

The APTIKOM conference theme was "Strengthening Economic Communities through Creative Industrial Innovations in the Era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0", as APTIKOM continues to develop digitally literate human resources to embrace the ‘Industrial Revolution 4.0.’ Presentations from industry included a session by Oracle experts Alvin Pryana, Principal Solutions Consultant, and Gumilar Sentosa, Autonomous Database Specialist, from Oracle Indonesia, entitled “Achieving the Vision of Industry 4.0 with Oracle Autonomous Cloud.”

At the conference, Oracle Academy was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the General Chair of APTIKOM, Professor Zainal A. Hasibuan, PhD. “By partnering with Oracle Academy, APTIKOM has been exposed to the core technologies used across industries around the world providing free professional development and bringing computing skills and hands-on industry-relevant experience to the students for their future. Various events both virtual and face-to-face for faculty and students broaden their insight to stay abreast of technology developments and reduce the gap between education and the needs of industry,” he noted. In awarding the certificate, he said, “All of these events make Oracle Academy an APTIKOM Strategic Partner, especially introducing state-of-the-art Oracle technology. Therefore we proudly award Oracle Academy with a Certificate of Appreciation for being an outstanding contributor as strategic partner in advancing computer science education.”

Over the past three years, more than 950 faculty from 176 universities in 19 provinces in Indonesia have participated in database and Java programming training with Oracle Academy. The educators also have participated in technology-related professional development and learning events through Oracle Academy Educator Days and Knowledge Builder sessions with expert speakers from Oracle.

Students from Oracle Academy member institutions also had the opportunity to engage with Oracle through virtual webcasts and visits to the Oracle Indonesia offices, providing unique experiences as they received expert presentations on topics such as Blockchain, exploration of computer science subjects and career paths, the Internet of Things (IOT) smart devices, and most recently, on Oracle Application Express (APEX). Over the past three years, more than 10,000 students have joined these events.

The Certificate of Appreciation was humbly accepted by Nurul Huda, Oracle Academy Country Manager for Indonesia and Malaysia.

Oracle Academy has been growing its reach across this diverse and vibrant region for over a decade, and now includes more than 5,000 regional education institutions in its Asia Pacific membership to help build the best computing education courses for their students.
