Oracle Academy Wins Responsible Business Award in Greece

Jane Richardson
Senior Director, EMEA

Oracle Academy and Oracle Greece have won yet another award, a Bronze award in the category “Technology for the Public Good―Digital Education & Skills,” during the Hellenic Responsible Business Awards 2019 ceremony on February 21. The awards were sponsored by Marketing Week magazine and Boussias Communications.

The award was presented to Eleni Tsipa, public relations and corporate citizenship specialist for Greece, Cyprus, Malta, Northern Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo (GCMM) cluster, Oracle Hellas. The award was made possible by Eleni’s work in Greece to offer Oracle Academy’s free computing curriculum and resources to institutions and educators.

The awards respond to the Greek business community’s need to showcase successful cooperation models that transform the face of the modern, sustainable entrepreneurship aiming at the common good.

Dimitris Mavros, managing director of MRB Hellas, noted that corporate social responsibility is important “for better new business, because all stakeholders are happy, because there is a better climate within the company, because reputation is better, because you can influence the market you are in, and because you are different from the competitors…”.

The president of the awards jury and President of the Economic and Social Committee of Greece and General Secretary of the Association of Greek Tourist Enterprises (SETE), Giorgos Vernikos, stressed that “responsible companies should have a catalytic role in the direction of interconnection, economy, society and the environment, as, through these awards, they set a bright example for a society that is currently doubting everything.”
