On June 17, 2019, Oracle Academy joined with other key tech industry partners to formally kick off the Malaysian government’s ‘MY Digital Tech Talent’ initiative. The initiative was jointly established by the Ministry of Education and MDEC, the government agency under the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia, entrusted to lead the nation's digital economy forward. The event recognized 11 universities and five polytechnic institutions that have been awarded Premier Digital Tech University status for 2019 - 2021.

‘MY Digital Tech Talent’ was established to connect industry with educational institutions. Under the initiative, participating industry partners provide the selected institutions with a range of services, including curriculum assets and training for teachers on a range of technology subjects that they then can incorporate into their respective courses and programs. This will help their students acquire key knowledge and relevant skills to be ready for industry jobs upon graduation.

As part of the initiative, Oracle Academy is delivering Train the Trainer events for educators in Java Programming and Database Design and Programming with SQL, plus self-learning study on Big Data and Machine Learning with Artificial Intelligence in Java. Each educator who completes the training will then be able to teach Oracle Academy course curriculum to students at their institutions.

“MDEC is a strong proponent of public-private partnerships, and this premier digital tech initiative is a great example of how such alliances can powerfully impact the growth of Malaysia’s digital economy,” said Surina Shukri, Chief Executive Officer of MDEC.

The launch event was held on June 17 at the Auditorium Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC), Cyberjaya, Selangor, Malaysia. Oracle Academy was represented by Oracle Malaysia Managing Director Mohamed Fitri Abdullah, who was invited to join the stage with Dr. Maszlee Malik, Minister of Education, to formally acknowledge our participation in the initiative. Other tech industry partners include Microsoft, Cisco, AWS, Intel, JobStreet, SaS and Runcloud.
