Faculty and students from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology, Ladkrabang, in Bangkok recently attended a knowledge builder event by Oracle as part of their membership with Oracle Academy. Boonchai Poonthan, Lead Solutions Architect, Oracle Thailand, provided a session entitled “Data Driven Digital Transformation” to help the students appreciate the role of data in transforming industry.

Successful digital transformation builds on the modernization of the underlying data infrastructure combined with a clear strategy for data, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI). Data is a key asset in any organization and is the ‘rocket fuel’ for digital transformation. A solid data strategy will enable companies to modernize applications and gain insights into their data and help transform them to be the enterprise of the future, Poonthan noted.

Associate Prof. Dr. Walailak Attirawong, from the institute’s Faculty of Science, said at the conclusion of the event: “I'd like to thank Oracle Academy for giving our students a very interesting topic, to show us not only Oracle in-depth but the changes that will occur in business and affect our curriculum. [The speaker] also gave us advance perspectives for better preparation to accommodate the change, especially with respect to data science and data analytics that are very important to us all.”
