Jane Richardson
Senior Director, EMEA

More than 500 youth from across Bulgaria, who created their own student company or startup in the last 10 months, presented online their products and services during the five-day Youth Startup Forum "Rising Stars", which was held in Bulgaria from June 8 - 12, 2020.

In total, 63 teams that participated in the “Training Company” program, and eight startups from the pre-accelerator program “Beyond,” presented or pitched their business ideas and companies to 40 jury members and competed for the awards “Best Study Company in Bulgaria” and “Best Student Startup in Bulgaria.”

This year, Oracle Academy was a supporter of the category award “Oracle Academy Digital Creativity.” The student company “Bluteeth” won this award, which was presented to them by George Alexandrov, Oracle Bulgaria Country Senior Manager, Managing Director, ECEMEA Tech Named Sales. This team, comprised of 10th-graders from Peter Beron High School of Mathematics, Varna, Bulgaria, also won third place for “Best student company in Bulgaria.” Their prize was well deserved for their high-tech development product, a module that measures time and efficiency when people brush their teeth.

The best student company of Junior Achievement Bulgaria for 2020 went to team “Calliope” from Vasil Levski High School, Karlovo. These young entrepreneurs from the Rose Valley of Bulgaria will represent the country in the “Company of the Year” competition, the international competition of Junior Achievement Europe. The product, developed by students, are “Kalimazing Chocolates,” chocolates filled with sugar-free rose syrup. The chocolates are a result of a closed production cycle, which begins with the care of a field of oil-bearing roses in the Karlovo region, planted for the last three years by the team members.

Among the official guests at the closing ceremony of the Rising Stars were EU Commissioner Maria Gabriel, former president of Bulgaria Georgi Plevneliev, the Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Tanya Mihaylova, and the executive director of the European Network of Junior Achievement, Salvatore Nigro.

Oracle Academy salutes these innovative youth for their creativity and drive.
