Oracle Academy recently sponsored and participated in the second edition of the EdTech Summit, Nigeria’s largest summit connecting educators, innovators, and influencers in the education landscape of Nigeria. The summit, which usually is held annually in Abuja, Nigeria, transitioned into the virtual environment and took place June 29-30, 2020.

The theme for the summit was ‘Emergency Response: Edtech for Teaching and Learning’ and was hosted by the Federal Ministry of Education, Nigeria and Afritex Initiative. This theme was aimed at x-raying the current challenges with educational technology and their possible solutions. There was a session dedicated to exploring Oracle Academy’s program and benefits.

This year’s summit attracted a number of notable speakers, including:

  1. Minister of State for Education Nigeria, Emeka Nwajiuba
  2. Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Nigeria, Isa Ali Pantami
  3. Covenant University Vice Chancellor, Remi Atayero
  4. Oracle Academy Program Manager, Sub-Saharan Africa, Sefunmi Durojaye (pictured)

Following the presentation by Sefunmi, attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, and relevant stakeholders in the education sector exchanged knowledge and shared experience and challenges.

An outstanding feature of the summit was the virtual exhibitor booth that enabled interactions between interested participants and Oracle Academy. Staff further informed booth visitors about the Oracle Academy offerings, and how institutions, educators and students can access and use the free resources.

Key takeaways from the summit:

  • Private and public colleges in Nigeria are fast adapting to changes in the globe by adopting educational technologies for students’ continuous learning.
  • The government resolved to partner more with private sector EdTech platforms like Oracle Academy to provide learning and teaching resources to institutions, educators, and students.
  • The country can model itself after other countries that have a workable edtech framework.

Oracle Academy is committed to providing FREE comprehensive teaching and learning resources alongside hands-on practice to members through resources such as Oracle Academy Education Bytes, alongside full curriculum offerings.
