The Oracle Academy curriculum team is excited to share the results of our hard work over the past year: new curriculum resources based on member feedback that further add to the topics Oracle Academy members can teach and learn.
Oracle Academy Education Bytes are short, flexible learning modules in programming, database, data science, and big data that teach new concepts and enhance existing knowledge and skills, problem solving, creativity, and learning retention. They can be used alone or to enhance Oracle Academy curriculum, and provide self-directed learning experiences in programming, SQL, PL/SQL, big data, R, Hadoop, and more. They include:
Hands-On Labs—Step-by-step instruction-based labs on database, programming, and data science. They are designed to be facilitated by—but not led by—an educator, or self-studied by an individual learner. Some labs may require prior knowledge or completion of curriculum; others do not.
Projects and Challenges—Stand-alone projects focused on database, programming, and data science that can be used independently of, during, or at the end of an Oracle Academy Workshop in a Box or course. Solutions are hosted on Oracle iLearning and require a Teacher account.
Videos and Presentations—Featuring Oracle Academy courses, these can be used within the classroom or viewed by individual learners at their own pace to learn more about computer science.
All Education Bytes include a content synopsis, recommended prerequisite knowledge and skills, level of difficulty, target age group, and any required software, equipment, and/or prerequisite knowledge.
Artificial Intelligence with Machine Learning in Java is a new 40-hour course that helps students build a working knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning, both of which are increasingly widespread in business today.
Providing practical, hands-on activities and project-based learning, this course is well suited for secondary and postsecondary students who possess fundamental knowledge of object-oriented concepts, data structures, recursion, terminology, and syntax in Java—all of which are learned in Oracle Academy Java Foundations and Java Programming courses.
In this course, students discover machine learning concepts relevant to artificial intelligence, learning terminology, and syntax, and work on projects that challenge them to design, implement, and demonstrate a machine learning solution in Java that could be implemented for a business or organization.
We’re excited about these new offerings, and look forward to continuing to enhance our computer science education portfolio.
